Roger Webster, nothing short of a genius on the cornet/horn and with unsung hero of brass, David Dawes, nothing short of astonishing ….WOW

@@richardhertz749 The International Staff Band (ISB) of The Salvation Army is located at International Headquarters, London, and Black Dyke in Queensbury, UK. I wish I did play trombone in the ISB, though it is a bit of a commute from the USA, not to mention the band is composed of extremely highly qualified select Salvation Army musicians from corps (churches) of the United Kingdom.

Why have they swapped uniforms?
@SALLYBRASSMAN3 жыл бұрын
It was a joke on the audience. The exchanging of tunics, though I know not if it relates, shows the warm relationship of the two bands towards each other. Later both bands would participate in a joint concert to honor the music and legacy of Eric Ball in a concert and DVD titled, "Eric Ball A Celebration in Brass."

@@SALLYBRASSMAN Thanks. Is ISB usually the best salvation army band in the world? And how good are they compared to Cory?
@SALLYBRASSMAN3 жыл бұрын
@@Down_is_now_up I would not compare those bands in this public forum. There is appoint particularly in the championship section that the so called best band out of championship bands is one point. The championship title moves from band to band. Staff Bands do not compete. There is little difference in the level of performance of the seven top staff and the exceptional corps bands. The performance of lesser bands to another can change. The performance of Cory and other championship contesting bands and the ISB and the seven top staff bands is consistently of high quality. The 19 May 2021 Sounds of Brass featured the Chicago Staff Band. They sounded just as good as the contesting bands that have been featured in previous podcasts.

How unfortunate it is that David Daws had to end his cornet playing career.
