Ilunga was mostly volume, but inaccurate punches that didn't do any damage. The second criteria for victory after knockdowns is damage and Vakhitov won both of those. 48-47 is the correct decision.

he threw more shots but was landing on Vakhitov's guard most of the time, Vakhitov had the more damaging shots, it was clear to see. Also, if youre the challenger, and it goes to decision, you have to be pretty dominant to get the W. Not a bad decision here if you knew anything about kickboxing

Read a lot of the comments before I watched the fight. Number one rule of fighting is don’t leave it up to the judges. Another point is a knockdown can win you a round you may have been losing. The knockdowns gave the Champ two rounds automatically. As said in a few comments solid shots outweigh patty cake touches, this is not amateur hour. The Champ was never in trouble. Danyo stayed busy but never tried to finish. However the decision was still questionable.

Very good fight. Very competitive and skilled. I think Illongo definitely threw the most shots and landed the most,but many, many were partial shots effectively BLOCKED. YES, the Russians head would "snap"(due to impact) but that is still a Block. Likewise the knees,most were against the elbows. Blocked.The Russian had some real good head kicks and that inside kick DID rock Illongo both rounds. RESPECT to Both men. Draw.

imo it wasnt a robbery. Ilunga definitely won the first two round but artem came back and had the next two just based on some bigger strike he landed. 5th round was pretty close so it was up to the judges. given that ilunga was the challenger, id say he had to win convincingly to given the fight.
