Well, during the fight, Mauro states that Artem is 20 years old. So, he's 27 now making this fight 7 years old. Plus, a brief wikipedia shows that it did indeed occur in 2011. As well as another previous fight between the two one year prior, which Simon took the win on as well except via split. I dabble in and out of kickboxing, even though I really enjoy it, so I wasn't even aware that these two fought way back. Vakhitov is like my favorite kickboxer right now.

You cannot over power an opponent that is more physically powerful than you, therefor you can’t face that person head on but only at angles and orthogonal to them. Vakhitov did so much better at putting together combinations and even delivering kicks with greater accuracy. All Simon could do was clinch and move forward, to which Vakhitov made the mistake of staying in the clinch with him and moving forward too, towards Simon as opposed to working angles and shucking him off in the clinch. Being tough is a setback for most fighters. Vakhitov could take damage so he allowed himself to and lost. Technique used without proper tactic and strategy is ineffective in the end result.

Artem did a real damage, he was more precise. Marcus just peppered with punches, Artem's defense. Artem would have won under any rules.
