In this engaging podcast episode, Dr. Meenakshi Jain, a renowned Indian historian, returns to discuss her latest book "Vishwanath Rises". Dr. Jain shares the accidental origins of her book, which initially focused on Ayodhya but expanded to cover the Kashi Vishwanath Temple following significant archaeological developments at the Ganvapi site in Varanasi.
The episode delves into the profound historical and spiritual significance of Kashi (Varanasi) in Hindu civilization. Dr. Jain articulates the shift from Vedic rituals to the philosophical discourses that occurred in Eastern India, particularly in Kashi.
Furthermore, Dr. Jain discusses the archaeological findings that substantiate Kashi's ancient religious history, dating back to 8,000 BC. She explores how myths and historical facts intertwine, providing a captivating narrative of Kashi's enduring legacy as a center of learning and spirituality.
