As an Odia I am really greatful & 0bliged to Professor Surya Roy & Mr.Abhijit Chavada for giving justice to history of Kalinga which was mostly neglected by so called British Indian scholars in history & anthropology specially from Madras & Calcutta presidency. Now it seems that Mr.Roy has done a thorough research on it & given due glory to the history of Kalinga. My family belongs to the native village of legendary Biju Pattanayak in Ganjam district now based at Toronto. My maternal grand father was Head master in an Odia School in Rangoon ,before Burma was separated from India 1935. He went there from Gopalpur port. Ganjam & Chilka Pipli were epicenter of Kalingan maritime Affairs. "Reclaiming History" is really an interesting subject & praiseworthy as well. Wish you all the best in your endeavor. Regards Ranjan Pattanayak

@@mayanktripathi8726 in Odisha there's no casteism and dirty politics.. , communal violence . people from other states are coming here for job purpose, some are willing to stay here permanently. But i fear migration... from north , we don't want bihari, hindhians and illegal rohingyas may destroy our peaceful environment here. And threat to our ଓଡ଼ିଆ language.

In childhood, we used to celebrate "Taapoi" Puja that celebrated the youngest girl child's travails and ultimate win in a family consisting of seven other doting elder brothers. She had to suffer at the hands of jealous sisters-in-law when the bothers were out in the sea,on a regular journey to far off land. The brothers were "Sadhabas" meaning rich traders mainly doing maritime business. As inheritor of this legacy, we had only a sketchy idea of of the maritime history of our ancestors which was turning in to mythology in absence o facts as presented by here. Correct history provides the context to your being and makes you strong. Absence of it, makes you rootless and leaves you as a collection of individuals and not as a nation with a cause. The invading muslims and christians were largely responsible, but not quite. Hopefully, we start from here, afresh. Thank you for this refreshing episode.

I have visited a Jagannath tempple in Mandi, Himachal Pradesh, few hundred meters from the ancient Panchvaktra Temple. The interesting fact is that the said Jagannath Temple was built around 1679-1680s and the priest there claims that the Vigraha in this temple is the oldest Jagannath Vigraha with Balrama and Subhadra as there have been no Naba-Kalebara in this temple in around last 444 years.

do you think the term “caste” is in Sanskrit? It is easy to detect and expose invaders acts of violence which multi-layered. Persecuting Hindus followed loot and plunder, followed by a consistent beating of adopting their culture, later when they were driven away by extraordinary brave few, something more serious happened. They pretended that they are leaving not running out of fear and ensured their “indoctrinated” bhartiya by brown skin (men n women) continue their beat down style of rule ( eg. Nehru) followed by pushed narrative via such leaders for decades. Coming to the point, Bharat had 100% literacy before invasions happened. System of education was Gurukulas where at the end of education, Guru assigned each disciple their “varna” job as per their training based on their skill. Henceforth there was no caste in the system of gurukulas. The term caste is forced in to Bharat as the last colonial weapon via their planted leaders to continue colonial power and rule over bharat and bhartiya absolving their return to original form and therefore stay a subdued civilization once the greatest. Portuguese pushed caste and British propelled whilst congress damaged people of Bharat the most.

The expansion of these two abrahamic religions especially isl@m in India initially it was imperial imposition but after '47 it was clearly a political decision. As far as I understand this islamic system they will continue to grow unless that person on the last row starts to counter it logically at the very beginning. I see very insignificant enthusiasm amongst such Indic person on the ground level.

Islam and Christianity were expanded in the world via the sword.... today they utilize their political, military and financial power to market their religion using subversive coercion as a tool among impoverished people.....however inspite of all of that their children are today studying and recognizing the nonsense that was paraded as coming from GOD..... this is most evident in Islam which is essentially a primitive, violent and toxic philosophy that will never foster love and humanity for all.

12:30 Thank you Thank you for this podcast. I am from Balasore and I studied the history of Odisha because of participation in various quizzes. I was so furious at the history taught in CBSE books because there is no mention of the Eastern Ganga dynasty kings in CBSE books. There is so much history about Balasore that even the people of Balasore aren't aware of. Balasore could have been the modern-day Kolkata if the British had not abandoned it because of the shallow sea. They did build a port in Kirtania (Subarnarekha Port). We have Dinamardinga and Farsadinga as Dutch and French colonies. We have a hotel in Balasore called 'Banjara' and a petrol pump called 'Barjoji's' in Balasore owned by a guy whose ancestors were Dutch/French. I wanted to create videos on the history of Odisha that's largely untold and forgotten.

There are some discripancies. Sri Jaganath temple was built in 12 century. Sarala Das, the first Indian to write full Mahabharata in local language, wrote in 15 th century. The Naba Gunjar is the unique Sarala Das imagination is a creature with nine different animals, human, ox, peacock, elephant, snake, tiger, lion, horse and roost. Sri Krishna revealed this form to Arjuna during his penance in the forest but not in Kurukshetra. Perhaps in no other literature of the world we will find 9 parts. Pancha mukhi Hanuman we know, Chimera had 3 different heads etc.

One of the most fascinating and eye opening discussions I have heard on KZbin. The status of ancient Bharat as explained by Prof. Surya Roy is a real revelation. 🎉🎉 Thanks a lot, Abhijit for this video. Will try and make this viral.

Pipli is a great place for Pipli applique. I have always wondered whether this applique tradition comes from? Perhaps France/europe via Portuguese

I think this kind of History should go into our textbooks ! I doubt not even native Oriya people would know all these details!! How magnificent was our history and we here study only about the barbarians!!

14:01 on wards... SR Rao wasnt founder of NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF OCEANOGRAPHY. being a student here... I know that it was founded in 1966.. right after International Indian ocean Expedition happened. It was created by goi, Dr. NK Panikkar was instrumental in it. SR Rao came much later and founded archeological division in NIO. Btw its in Heartland of goa. So, if you visit goa anytime,..and interested in archeology or oceanography you can visit. There's more artifacts and antique from bhet dwarka and elsewhere in here than anywhere in india.

Shri Abhijit Chanda ji, I read that Anuradhapura is named for Ravana’s daughter Anuradha who was married to Rahul the son of Shanta,( the older sister of Bhagwan Shri RamChandra ji ) and her husband RishyaShrunga who conducted the Putra kameshti yagnya for Maharaja Dasharatha.

It is up to University Scholars and wealthy persons to promote archeology and paleo archeology. Sindhu Sarasvati Civilization follows Indian Subconental plate's slow Tactonic Journey.
