My only concern, when i polish to aplly a heavy duty coating is that, clay bar only, cannot remove the root of the iron particles witch are embedded on the clear coat but only the top exposed part, that is why i personal use the iron remover, so do not have to deal with those when o remove clear with polishing. And some times it cuts down the clay bar time because it removes much junk before hand. But is just me...this is nit working for every one. BUT also here in Europe we can find very economical iron removers on bulk from big brands. Less than 8-10€(9-12usd) for litre(32oz) on bulk 5litr jugs.... retail price. Βut for just...a common wash clay wax...i think...maybe not needed Great video again Phil

It’s definitely an interesting topic “ decon” with iron removers. I find it to be a marketing topic really. Even sometimes clay barring. I think it’s a great way for an industry to survive and thrive when you can invent and feed consumers with the “need for” step. I like you common sense approach. I am maybe getting cynical the longer I am in pro detailing when you see the next best thing over and over again. I myself like to dial it back to basic good quality products that have never failed me and the proof of this is my repeated business.

Hello Phil and Jess. I love seeing black paint come back to life. With water spotting, do you think a product like Carpro Descale would remove them in the wash process or in this case would it require heavier contact like 3D eraser or something else? I see this fairly often but customers don’t seem to care because they don’t even realize they’re there 🤷
@MirandaDetailing2 жыл бұрын
Hi. Thanks so much! Actually I just got some Descale and will be using it soon to test. But if they are light enough water spots it should work. But some spots will be hard etched and need polishing.

Phil, really nice look with the Black Hybrid Solutions on the Honda especially with you applying the polish less aggressively as more of an enhancement - impressive! I brought both the polish and spray into my arsenal this winter. I've seen gr8 reviews (this one included) on the product. Am anxious to try both of them - snow's melting up here in southern Maine. I've been using the regular Hybrid Solutions line for several years now, the black appears to be similar application and removal wise. Btw...give your assistant a raise! Keep up the good work. Hi Phil. Another great video. Even I think I know I know lot about detailing but I'm still learning new things everytime I watch ir videos a d couple of other detailers. I see u use glasses sealant for windshield. Why not just use cermaic coating that u use for paint on glass when using on paint for cermaic coated vehicle. Just opinion.

Hi. Thanks. good question. it comes down to what the customer is paying for. glass coatings cost more and we would charge more for that. So its up to what you have discussed with your customers. 😎👍

Hi phil, great video as always. i have a question, why you often clean wheels at last? many detailers usually clean the wheels first before wash. thanks
@MirandaDetailing2 жыл бұрын
Hi. Well as you see my wife and I work together. So we don’t need to do wheels first because it doesn’t matter. I don’t follow other “detailers” rules. If I was working alone sure I see the benefits of wheels first. But honestly it doesn’t matter. It never has and never will. 😎👍🏼

Nice touch adding the glass sealant and touching up the road rash. I think those things add value and help to create a good relationship with customers. I was curious about one thing, I know the customer did not pay for an enhancement. When you discover something like old water spots, is that something you would contact the customer about to see if they would be interested in an enhancement? Just wondering how to handle that generally speaking. Thank you.

Thanks!! Yeah we always discuss options and point things like that out to the customer either before of send them pics during the job to see if they want to us to go further and the cost.

Hi Phil, another great video. Thanks. Like when you say why use iron de on if not needed. I was just wondering as a beginner…when polishing i notice your arm speed being pretty quick. How many passes do you typically do in a 2 x 2 section to get the results and not overkill for nothing? P.s. nice bonus for customer touching up the road rash!
@MirandaDetailing2 жыл бұрын
Hi. Thanks. so polishing all depends on the paint and what the customer is expecting. so if they just want gloss and a little swirl removal I know I can go a little faster and still get the results I need. I'll do a test spot and see how the paint responds after a few passes and see how the results are. Then I can determine what i needs to do form there.

Of course wash, chemical and mechanical decon, but I want to try Meguiars Ultimate compound not aggressive just easy, followed by Turtle Hybrid acrylic ceramic black polish and Turtle Hybrid Ice Seal and Shine I just bought. Then the Turtle Hybrid acrylic ceramic black spray wax. Is this over kill? I'm no pro just a DIY taking care of my 12 year old Kia Optima 🇺🇸
@MirandaDetailing2 жыл бұрын
Hi. Thanks. So TW says that you can apply the wax right over without waiting the 24h if you need to. as a business, we don't always have the luxury of holding the customer's vehicle overnight. If you want to do that on your own vehicle they recommend it only because they say to get the "best" results wait for 24h in-between applications. It's not overkill...the Spray wax aids as extra protection and you can even use it as a drying aid for maintance.

The Passport looks great! Nice job. What's your take on car covers? Pull outside and cover car until customers show up? Do they cause marring? Horror story! I ended up at a dealership yesterday. Son looking at used trucks. Dealership was backing up brand new C8 white corvette into building for customer delivery. Out comes the detailer. Oh boy. So I stood and watched. Pulls out a cotton rag and sprays liquid onto wheels. Wipes down face and barrels. Grabs different bottle of liquid and sprays paint and wipes down paint. Same cotton rag!! Guess what paint looked like after? Yup. I couldn't take it anymore. Had to walk out. What a horrible feeling. 82k car. Man o man. Had to get that off my chest. Lol. Hi wife!

Can you clay and machine apply polish/wax on a vehicle with graphics ? Big commercial truck Out in the sun White with lot of brake dust between the graphics

You can clay around the graphics but don’t try to clay into the edges of the vinyl. Yes you can machine apply waxes right over the vinyl also. Just check your edges and gently wipe any wax from those edges. Use a chemical decon product for attack the brake dust on the vinyl also. It won’t hurt it.

If you’re working in full sun just make sure to not let it dry fully. Rinse the panels and spray on the iron remover and keep an eye on it. Best to do it in small sections. Sometimes you can’t remove everything so never promise the customer 100% perfection.
