Keeping playing fun and inspired: try volunteering to play/sing for people who cannot get out. I have training to assist memory care residents. Singing and playing older songs and hymns for them keeps me going, about 4 days a week. I recall the 1st time I sang Country Roads there were 2 residents that got emotional. I found out from their families that one grew up in West Virginia, and the song brought back good childhood memories. Tears of happiness. The other resident explained her husband got his 1st job at the University of West Virginia. The song brought back her first 3 years of blissful marriage, and her husband. She wanted to hear it each time. I learn songs if a resident asks for one. I also ask their family members if they have a favorite song. Their engagement with the songs keeps me inspired. It works in assisted living, nursing homes and the VA. Some places have requirements (background check, vaccine records, etc.). I also have some of my own songs (about my dog, horse, cooking) that make them laugh. Thanks for the question

I have a D18 with a Sunburst Gloss Finish that I bought in 2018 in Houston. I recently bought a D28 with a Satin Finish. I love both guitars and the woods are decidedly different except for the top. I really like the Satin Finish as you can smell the wood evertime when you take it out of the case. The sound is also very nice as the satin finish allows for great sound as the wood is not so restricted as it is in a gloss finish. The satin finish is also easy to take care of as I just use a soft cloth to wipe it down after I play it. I really agree with Maury's description of the Satin Sound.

I have a Custom Martin HD-28e VTS Adirondack 12-fret with Vintage finish, with great (soft V) neck profile. I love it. Thanks

I'd have to agree with your take on satin guitars. I recently bought a D28 Satin, and it really has a zing to it. It sounds much brighter than what I usually associate with Martin guitars

Had it at 10 or 11. I yelled and yelled, but Spoon wasn't listening. I have a 000-28e Street Master with K&K Trinity.

My D15M and 00015M both sound amazing in their own way, especially the 00015M, so light to the touch, compared to my other fully nitro guitars which to describe as having a punchy sound like having a compressor on them, they burst when you hit the strings hard for sure

Gloss or satin: what am I singing and what are the other instruments, if any. What about closed pore and open pore (think Circle Strings vs Iris Guitars)? All have their place if you sing or play enough.
