Glossu Rabban wasn't hated by his uncle, Baron Harkonnen; instead, the Baron loathed and despised him, but regarded him as a useful tool.

Dave Bautista does rage so well. His outburst in Bladerunner 2049 was epic. Everything is good in the new version - the acting, direction, dialogue, plotting, effects and soundtrack are first class.

You can always tell someone who has read the books versus a narrator who is just following a script written by yet another who has not read the books. This video is of the latter category.

I think we can all agree that Sting as Feyd in that metal speedo is the peak of human achievement. We have been in decline ever since. Some of us were there to see it in theaters, even if nobody understood a damn thing that was going on. Great video. Bautista's Rabban is terrifying. We haven't seen much of him yet, since Pt 1 ended just after the Harkonnen reclamation. I hope he gets some breathing room in pt 2 to really sell what a monster he is.

8:11 these weren't in the Dune miniseries, but the in House trilogy by Brian Herbert: When Rabban hunted a sandworm and child Duncan Idaho for sport, these events happened decades ago from Dune.

Looking at all three variations, 1984 Dune's Rabban is definitely a product of the early 80's with his over-top-performance by Paul Smith, SyFy's 2000 Dune miniseries Rabban was still over the top, but showed more inherent pure evil. I feel that Dave Bautista's Rabban will turn out the best, as he is terrifying, vicious and without any shred of humanity. Just watching those stills of him glaring at someone or something with such barely suppressed rage is enough to convince me.

Glossu "Beast" Rabban was the brutish nephew of Baron Vladimir Harkonnen, the Count of Lankiveil, and briefly the Governor of Arrakis during the Desert War. In the novel, while lacking in cunning, he did possess at least some degree of common sense and foresight, as he repeatedly insisted to the rest of the Harkonnens that they not underestimate the Fremen and do a head-count of their forces before occupying Arrakis, and also posed an insightful enough question about his uncle's subversion of Yueh that the baron himself had to give pause. He inherited the Harkonnen penchant for sadism and cruelty, but not the cunning. He was best known for his tyrannical and vastly ineffective governance of Arrakis during the Harkonnen fiefdom of the desert planet, as well as during the insurgency of the Fremen led by Paul Muad'Dib. He earned the nickname "Beast" when he killed his father, Abulurd Harkonnen. The Baron planned to let Glossu rule the planet for a time through fear and terror so that when his favored nephew, Feyd-Rautha (Rabban's younger brother) took over, the new ruler would be welcomed as a hero. His horrid treatment of the Fremen on Arrakis prompted a lengthy rebellion that interfered with spice harvesting and production on the planet. Rabban was slain and beheaded by the Fremen populace of Arrakeen, whom he had brutalized for many years. The fate of Lankiveil after the death of Rabban is not known. Glossu Rabban was portrayed by the late László Kish in the 2000 Dune miniseries, and by Dave Bautista in the 2021 Dune movie. All three adaptations have him appear much earlier than in the book, in which he is introduced after the death of Piter de Vries. The first two adaptations depict Rabban as having died via decapitation, though this is not clearly stated in the novel. In the 2000 miniseries, when realizing he was not going to be spared by the Fremen, he drops his knife and screams into the air while bracing for the inevitable as the Fremen rush him to decapitate him. However, in the 2024 film Dune: Part Two, he is killed by Gurney Halleck, who stabs him in the throat.

The Baron didn't hate Glossu. Before Feyd was born, he was the Harkonnen heir. The Baron tried to prepare him, but Rabban was a slow learner who also made bad decisions sometimes. But actually he wasn't completely stupid.

No. These were in the different adaptations. He was beheaded in the 1984 Dune, and killed by Fremens in the 2000's Dune. In the novel, we don't know how he died. Stilgar just says Rabban is dead. But I think he probably died in battle.
