This is a pretty good frosting. Its a really good idea because it has no butter or heavy creams, that is very effective. I feel like if you dont put the right amount of sugar (i put only 4 teaspoons i dont like it too sweet) it will taste a bit like the flour. But overall it really went well with my chocolate cake! Thank you 😊

Milk may be better but please ensure the flour is roasted well and you use good quality cocoa powder (and not drinking chocolate). This is a chocolate frosting and will not have the taste of butter frosting, only a substitute. Hope this helps. Keep well x

Hi Sheela so nice to read your message. As answer to your questions - I would recommend sticking to the recipe and method to get the exact results but using nutella is also an option - so my suggestion will be to make a very small quantity at first to understand the taste and texture and if you like it you can double the quantity if you didn’t like it, you can edit the ingredients to make it more sweet or adjust the consistency. Mia, thank you for this recipe. I just did my version with a large kitchen table spoon for the flour, sugar and cocoa. Instead of water, or milk, I used the Walmart branded Great Value French Vanilla coffee creamer. For my first attempt, it tastes great. I could see this be a chocolate lover's go to. I was amazed when the consistency went from a conglomeration, to a frosting texture. I must have done something right. 😉

Oh, and it sets up quickly so I put it in a quart sized Ziploc bag, and put it in a cup of hot water to soften it. Worked like a charm.

maida - would give the right consistency, but please try making a small quantity with wheat flour to see if you like it. please use non-stick pan.

Yes exactly. Add very little warm warm and mix well to make into the frosting consistency. Pls keep in mind this is not a butter frosting its only a substitute x

Water added to the pan is just normal water but after you cook if the frosting is too thick THEN to make it soft again pls use warm water ☺️

Hey your recipe is nice but after the frosting is ready we can refrigerate it and then we can use to decorate cake?? Or after decorating the cake with frosting we have to refrigerate it to make it cool

Pls dont refrigerate the icing, use on the cake strategy away and you can put the cake in fridge. Else you wont be able to pipe properly as consistency may thicken. Hope this helps x

Hello dear Arokia thanks for writing to me. Pls use any sugar you have and make sure to mix well until it dissolves. I have used normal sugar. Regarding using this on pancakes - this frosting basically tastes like chocolate pudding so i would recommend pls make a small quantity and see if you like the taste and texture on the pancakes.
