Safe corridors from garden to gardens is a fantastic idea. Hoggies need spaces to wander and here in 🇨🇭 they are in constant danger because of the roads everywhere and closed gardens. Sadly not much is done against that 😥. Thank you so much for the french translation 👍(I am from French Switzerland)

An adult hedgehog adopted me in spring. I don’t know if it is male or female, I just water and feed without interference. I’ve witnessed the courtship ritual too, but still don’t know whether my friend is M or F. Do you know, would a male visit a female or vice versa? Or are they not bothered about location? This courtship took place 31 July, so birth would have occurred a week or so ago. I do realise that the babes will still be in the nest after 10 days.

Hedgehogs are very much a "love the one you're with" species - and so courtship occurs upon encountering a member of the opposite gender. That said, I do think males will more actively seek females than the other way around - but they don't have partners that they will constantly visit - they simply encounter each other and the ritual commences.
