Started digging my shaft at y30 and went down to y-30 (so far, might go deeper), set up the bucket dispenser grid and activated it, but I'm not seeing any spawning through my tinted glass vantage points.

Hmm 1) are you in a river biome (have to ask) 2) are all neighboring rivers dried up? 3) are there cave systems with water that are taking priority? I’d start with those three. The video doesn’t show but I spent probably 4-5 hours just caving to make sure

Oh nice! Ive been trying to find a more recent build for glow ink farms and came across ur channel :D just wondering tho, how far can u afk for the farm to work?

unfortunately, you'll have to be in the area since squid spawns are (to my knowledge, check the wiki as the update may have changed things) based on random game ticks which only happen if the player is within about 8 chunks or 128 blocks. Might seem far but is rather close imo
