Bottle size is a common complaint but it’s deceivingly small. It’s 50ml at $20 whereas Supergoop Unseen Sunscreen (at Sephora) is 50ml oz at $34. KraveBeauty is just less wasted packaging/less plastic.

I love it but the bottle is just too small . Which is strange because Krave’s others product are such a great value . I hope it will become easier to manufacture so the price wither drops or a bottle gets bigger. On the other hand the Hemp face wash is amazing and you only need like a pea size but the bottle is big enough to use as much as you want . Thanks Ramon, I’ll be checking out the website mentioned.
4 жыл бұрын
I know, I wish it were bigger too! But tbh that 50mL is more or less an industry standard size. I wish she could bring the price down a hair or two, but another interesting and cool thing about Krave, from somebody looking at it from the perspective of a product developer, is their commitment and transparency to sustainability, business practices, and development struggles. So maybe soon we’ll see her talk candidly about making this a better deal, since sunscreen IS that necessary component to a skincare to a skincare routine. I’m just NOW starting to play with the full brand for a dedicated brand video! I’ve started incorporating more and more little by little, but the cleanser and glycolic toner are the last two products.

PLEAS PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE MAKE A REVIEW OF THE SUPERGOOP SUNSCREEN
4 жыл бұрын
Which one specifically? I did a review of the unseen sunscreen, but truth be told, I don't particularly want to recommend their sunscreens on my channel since I find the products to be very expensive are not so easy to access considering the quality of the product and how much you get in a tube. Considering how much product you get in a tube for $35, and the fact that sunscreen needs to be something worn EVERYDAY and reapplied frequently as well, it's not in line with what I try to make my content about. They're nice formulations, but not worth the money, especially when Korean brands are just doing it better

I spent so much time wondering why Korean sunscreens are called essences or creams and you just explained that. I didn't really think about how they would have to alter the name to work around FDA regulations.
4 жыл бұрын
Oh no, they oftentimes just use those words (sun essence, sun mill, sun cream) to denote lightweight and/or moisturizing textures. Very thin, liquidity, runny textures that nourish the skin. If they are directly selling and distributing sunscreens in the US (as opposed to a retailer based internationally that just so happens to ship to the US), they have to have FDA approved filters. If they don’t (like Krave), they can’t technically market them as sun products. Two separate concepts. K beauty loves confusing names for things lol

i saw that this spf isn't oil-free, so what do you think about that for an oily/combo skin person?
4 жыл бұрын
Tbh I know so many oily, acne-prone individuals who love this formula and texture. There’s obviously going to be those who don’t either, but what oil there is in this is nice and lightweight. Also, I find most cosmetic oils aren’t bad to use on oily skin types. It can be more situational, such as only using this formula in the winter months. It leaves a more radiant finish, which I tend to blot if it’s too much, but if oils are a big concern, the Keep Cool Soothe Bamboo is a comparable option.

So I just got it in the mail today! I just wanted to clarify: was it the mineral or chemical one you were wondering about?
@comfy.veiled
@comfy.veiled 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Ramon✨🤍, I hear this so many times.. Chemical Filters aren‘t good for skin of colour . But that’s truly because of the US sunscreen filters. Even though I know the good benefits of Korean Sunscreens and that they’re far ahead of US.. I am still worried if we Skin of color people should wear it . So I would need a video where it‘s said with studies that it’s brown skin friendly ? Love from Dubai ❤️✨
4 жыл бұрын
What’s interesting about that is that part of that comes from the general fact that the filters we approve in the US can cause mild irritation to those who are sensitive to them (they are outdated after all), but the main part of that is a misconception from the notion that chemical sunscreens convert UV to heat and this heat can then cause irritation, which leads to inflammation-induced pigmentation. Since the main understanding of mineral sunscreens was that they acted as physical shields and thus reflected the light away, they were safer. We now know mineral sunscreen function predominantly the same way, so in reality they both convert the majority of the UV they come in contact with into heat. That heat is such a minute amount to cause any damage or effects to skin of color. The other caveat is that these more innovative filters are much better UV absorbers than mineral filters, and thus reduce the inflammation related UV damage we get primarily from UVA, but also from burns we get from UVB. Also, you risk more in the pigmentation and inflammation department if you don’t wear sunscreen at all. What’s nice about the newer international filters is their ability to do the job while being very mild on the skin. I’ll try to do a more concise video, but that’s the general gist of it

Confused here: Blotting would not interfere with the chemical uv filters?
4 жыл бұрын
Once the sunscreen filters are allowed to adsorb, set in, and form the layer of protection they need, all thats really getting blotted away is the excess emollient ingredients! But again, give the sunscreen time to set in. No less than 5 minutes.

Oh no :( I've heard this from a handful of people, but it just goes to show how individual our skin types can be. I find the milia usually occurs when there's too much emolliency or occlusivity around the eyes, so maybe skipping moisturizer before this could help?

When you blot a sunscreen it doesn't disrupt the film that it forms to function correctly? I would imagine whatever you're blotting off has to be part of that film
4 жыл бұрын
Once the film fully sets down and adsorbs to form the protective barrier, it’s a decently resilient film. I’ve seen UV camera photos of individuals applying primer and cosmetics on top of sunscreen, and the level of disruption is surprisingly minimal. So long as you’re not roughly agitating the sunscreen as you’re blotting, you should be fine. Where it becomes more of an issue is blotting oils off after a couple hours of wearing it since at that point those face oils are actively starting to disrupt the barrier of protection, compared to blotting off the excess emolliency right at the onset of application

Are there any Korean sunscreens with a higher SPF 50. I keep hearing that if you don’t reapply sunscreen throughout the day your spf 30 will end up having the efficacy of spf 20-25. I know it’s extremely important to reapply but with busy days it’s sometimes hard.
4 жыл бұрын
This is a very loaded question. So the tea with this: -most korean sunscreen are above SPF 50. You'll notice a lot say SPF50+ (like this one) because most government regulations only let you advertise up to a 50, but in reality a lot of them range from an SPF 50-80 -you're correct that if you don't wear enough of your sunscreen, you won't get the advertised protection. A general rule is to apply about 1/4 tsp, or about three finger lengths worth for your face and ears, maybe a lil extra for your neck (don't forget the backs of your neck and ears too!) That being said, if you wear enough, an SPF 30 is fine. Higher is better, and that's just because if people DON'T put on enough, they'll at least be getting SOMETHING. That's why it's important to find a sunscreen whose texture and wear you enjoy enough to want to wear all the time! -in terms of reapplication. My opinion: unless you're sweating or swimming, or in high intensity UV, don't stress so much about reapplication. I think a nice solid base layer with great protection does a lot for you, especially if the filters are more stable (like the new age filters in Asian and european sunscreens). Reapplication is nice though, and I have a video wear I go into detail about my favorite options for reapplications, like sprays or powders. The main thing with reapplication is that as the day progresses and we touch our faces, or our natural skin oils start to do their thing, it starts to disrupt the layer of sunscreen protection. Again, check out my reapplication video for more details So overall, as long as you're wearing a nice layer of sunscreen at the start of your day, and you aren't in high strength, direct UV rays in the middle of the day, you're alright. If you want to amp up what you got on already, be sure you're using some antioxidants in some format (this one has it in its formulation already). Or just carry a sunscreen with you you can put a few dabs on and blend in within like 15 seconds. Hopefully that was helpful. Sorry for the long response.
