THANK YOU 🤝 The emotional intelligence, acting, and writing were TOP notch in the Remake. Down to littlest things that still said SO much. Prime example: Luis, in answering Leon, winces as he replies, “… Because it makes me feel BETTER.. Let’s leave it at that,” delivered with the look he has on his face. Not, “It makes me feel GOOD,” but, “better.” We can feel SO much back story in that line, how guilty, empathetic, and tormented he is about (what I imagine mostly unwittingly) giving birth to the NE-a Type Parasite, thus The Lisa Trevor & Nemesis Projects. And, I say unwitting because we know until Luis was replaced as the head researcher in Illuminados he was the one finding ways to get the plaga OUT of people. It wouldn’t shock me if Umbrella said, “Yeah! We need to develop this really hard to remove parasite that’s super effect at taking over its host. If we can engineer a parasite like that? We could also develop a cure that can handle not only that more dangerous parasite, but other less dangerous parasites like it in the world!” Think about how good he is at synthesizing a treatment for Las Plagas, and how fast he whips it up despite his now limited access and tool set. It’s one of those things where it’s not until you’re on the inside, and they’re like, “Come take a look at what your work gave birth to: this is Lisa Trevor, and since it’s going well? Phase two is this: meet this Mr. X style Tyrant that we’ll be giving the parasite that’s in Lisa Trevor. It’ll be the ULTIMATE weapon: the Nemesis Project.” You can feel the blood drain from Luis’ face. + Why else would he be on the run unless he bailed? If they’d have only made those changes (emotional intelligence, acting, and writing) then I would’ve been HERE for the remake, but god they gave me EVERYthing with this remake (even things I didn’t even know I needed: now that I have stealth kill Assassins Creed style + the ability to take cover + stealth around? All the other games feel broken 💀). Back to the emotional intelligence, acting, and writing? It’s even down to the littlest things with her: God, when Ashley gets too far from you the genuine guy wrench in her voice as pipes and squeaks out, “Don’t leave me!” Legit makes me frown SEVERELY and makes me feel sad. From there forward I avoided that at all cost. Everyone is a REAL person in this, and we feel we understand them so deeply. And it shows: from being forced to protect Ashley to the remake where she’s someone we want to protect (same goes for Luis 🥹😔).

If I had to sum it up as quickly as I could, I consider giving female characters in video games breast reductions (like Crystal Dynamics did to Lara Croft) to be ill-conceived attempts to un-sexualize fictional characters that instead just body shames IRL busty women. Here me out, I would love CAPCOM to remake RE5 to complete the remake trilogy. While pursuring the development of RE9 i wanted them to consider 'remade' the whole RE6 story focusing on Ada backstory, remove Helena and replace with Ashley. Jake has no place in the story, please feature Sherry with Claire instead. Tie the story which is linked with RE7-9 so you can complete the 9 series of RE. Then you can move forward, i love to see the next gen of RE series after completion of 9 original story.

I don’t wanna go on a tangent abt why they are genuinely a good duo but i totally am. This change in Ashley’s character is so much more respectful and soft. The original ashley paints her to be the stereotypical rich girl who tries to remain independent. This version of Ashley still considers others including herself but instead of wanting to be independent, it is more so she doesn’t want to be burdensome. She felt guilt and remorse for Luis, she didnt want Leon getting hurt for her, she considered Ada’s stance with Leon and what Ada was able to accomplish by encouraging her to take action. I know everyone hates the concept of princess-knight dynamic in video games, especially with how overdone it has been in the past, but this game shows the considerations of both Leon and Ashley. Leon didn’t just see this mission as a mission. He saw this as a way to change how the conclusion to Raccoon City ended with. He wanted an excuse to escape what ended up happening to him in the 6th game. In the first game, Leon had the choice to look at Ashley’s photo even though she’s very well known and easy to point out in a foreign country, but he chooses to. He conditioned himself to see her as not just a priority but a person. A person who could consider him a hero that wouldn’t make him reflect on his trauma from 1998. It hurts me to see the way people see this as a duo/couple. The two are obviously in different yet similar crisis situations of their life, and yet they both manage to use one another to distract themselves and keep faith. Sometimes I wonder if Leon didn’t become a violent alcoholic in the 6th game if he took the offer to be Ashley’s security. He would have more reasons to not throw his life into alcohol and have someone as kind and considerate and bright as the sunshine, like Ashley, by his side. And Ashley would have more reasons to feel protected as well as connected to someone as strong and confident and caring as Leon by her side

@@cyborgsofuranus5382 Well for one thing, her being backed up to the edge of the platform means she isn't giving herself a "way out". For another, the posture of her arms is fairly open. This all says that she feels safe with Leon. That's pretty much all you need to know as far as the body language goes. As for the verbal language, she's talking about her and Leon doing things together in the future, as if she's expecting something. When he changes the subject she says "you're no fun", like she didn't get what she was expecting. One of the best pieces of dating advice I ever heard was "if you feel like you can kiss her, you could have kissed her ten minutes ago."

Thing is, this game really did make me a shipper of Leon and Ashley, but that comes with the concession that they would absolutely have to play the long game to get there. Between Leon not being in a mental or professional state to even handle dating and him being so focused on her being his junior, he's just not where someone should be in their life to be serious about their dating life. That said, the game didn't outright confirm nothing could happen when he turned down her request at the end, since Ashley could still put the word in anyway or the President goes full father mode and assigns Leon to Ashley since he knows Leon can protect her.
