I don't get what the negativity is about. Lily Gao's voice is exactly the way I imagined what a real-life Ada Wong would sound like. I particularly like how her tone changes slightly when speaking with different characters. With Luis, she sounded colder and even notably commanding. With Leon, it'a a warmer tone, slightly flirtatious, while maintaining her deep voice. It's a subtle detail, but once you recognize that, you'll appreciate that level of depth she's actually giving the character even more.

I agree she sounds and behaves like an average chinese girl with accent and everything. Her voice really fits with the character. Her voice makes me think of a work colleague called Ai, when she speaks French with her accent. Besides, we don't Ada's past, if she was born in USA or China. This could really explain whether she has a fluent English with accent or not. Commun people don't really know how is to be bilingual. I speak both Spanish and French and both languages sounds a bit different from an average natural born speaker.

I can't stress this enough. Her voice is so natural and I really really really love her voice. Sounds natural, bossy and vigilante, a woman of class. Weird if I'm gonna put it as one of my favorite voice acting of all time but it is. If you ever play genshin before, you realize how their voice acting is too much and sometimes irritating to hear with their very high pitched voice. I hella love this Ada's voice but I can't see it making a return and it's very unfortunate.

When they contacted each other,I liked that Leon was slightly smeared on the Ada he responded to her with a joke. He's still the Leon we know. It is very clear that Leon still has feelings for the Ada, Also It is so obvious that Ada is really in love with Leon, that even Leon notices this. But Leon is not able to fully step into it because he is depressed due to the traumatic events he experienced in this game. He tries not to reflect his feelings to her. But it is still obvious from his facial expressions and behavior that he cares and loves her. It's nice that they show this in this game,it reminds me of the relationship of Batman and Catwoman.I hope we can see these couples together in the sequel. And I hope the DLC comes, and we can see a little more of the dialogues of these couples.

Although there's a few missing scenes, I liked that they fleshed out Ada and Leon's encounters more! They actually talk!! Ada just looks so sad after the boat and the helicopter scene, she loves him so much. I also really like the calls they had and the one where Leon calls Ada an encyclopedia lmao. It's not here but I liked Ashley showing concern for Ada and how Ada actually guides Leon to help her. Kind of cool since I saw some people theorise about there being jealousy between them, so glad there isn't. I like the change of Ada coyly holding up the boat keys, it fits her sultry persona more. Also it's clear that everyone in RE is some form of superhero since Ada is dropped from a height but is totally fine lol. I love seeing Ada and Leon fight together, they are THAT power couple. Ada asking Leon if he was coming with her despite having the very (cute) teddybear key ready! I am totally okay! I like that Leon isn't entirely welcoming her with open arms but you can tell how deep their bond runs. Also love that we see Ada betray Wesker. I mean she survived Racoon City, I feel like the last thing she wants would be another apocalypse. I am so ready for Separate Ways to delve into more of her story!! Edited to add: Please keep your comments about Ada's VA to yourself. I personally thought Lily Gao was fine but it's exhausting seeing comment after comment about it. Constructive criticism is fine but at this point, it's gone beyond that. I just want to comment on Ada and Leon's characterisation, that's all.

Yes, Ashley got stronger in the remake, but don't you think Ada got weaker? She constantly asks Leon to leave Ashley and go with her. Transformed from femme fatale to obsessive yandere. She was always the elusive butterfly that Leon tried to catch, asked her to stay with him, but he didn't get it. And there was drama! The whole essence of Ada's character is just spoiled.

Honestly, I dont know if its just capcom done goofed up on the choice for Adas voice or the actor not trying nearly hard enough. 14:03 sounds like it was recorded in a closet and there is NO emotion in these words what so ever. They just defeated a giant monster and those lovebirds dont even know when or even if they will meet again - and the "until next time, Leon" is sounds just so goddamn plain and dead inside, like nothing happened. Another one: 9:04 Look at the character model, the sleek face with perfect makeup, red dress and leather boots, the design screams playful, young and attractive while the voice sounds like a raspy 40 yo grandma with cancerous lung from smoking a pack too many a day, its so out of place and a harsh contrast. RE 82´s Heisenberg was a little off aswell but the man gave personality and life to the character which covers it up x2 but this is just awful

To be honest, Ada's new voice isn't that bad. She sounds modernized and realistic, like those characters that try to be cool and badass lol, what's disappointing is the delivery of the lines like she's so bored and wants to get it over with. Voice acting aside, despite a lot of changes between Ada and Leon's interactions from the original RE4, I feel like the remake made them more familiar with each other. They act more subtle and friendly, but still put on their business suits. I see some people hating on Ada because she's manipulating Leon, but they're both just doing their jobs and they have understanding of that. At times, they even save each other (mostly by Ada). This time, it seems their relationship is more of mutual respect towards their roles. Ada knows that Leon is good and will always choose to save Ashley, which aligns with making them a "distraction" as she infiltrates the castle, nothing really wrong there since both sides get to finish their jobs. And Leon knows that Ada would do the right thing. It may seem like Ada is the one using Leon in her favor but Ada knows that Leon is still the good boy scout from RE2 that's why she said that he didn't change, and she's just taking advantage of Leon's heroism. Ada's just the fuel, Leon is still the driver. Just like their first encounter here, in the original they fought close quarter combat like enemies and Leon is confused why Ada was there. In the remake, Ada's finger wasn't even touching the trigger and Leon asks her who she's working for this time. Then Leon just casually shows his back to her indicating she's no threat to him, and laughs when she disappears showing his familiarity with her antics. Maybe we'll get more answers when the DLC gets released, assuming they continue the "discussion" there. Then the last part where Ada gets the sample from Leon, in the original she had to threaten him and he tried to stop her. This time he just let her get the sample, and when he refused her invitation to get to the chopper they both looked disappointed lol especially that smirk from Ada as if she knew he'd refuse and when Leon shook his head because he couldn't. Those were some nice nuances I think. They made Leon and Ada's relationship more professional and grounded, and it shows how they work well together. I know some people like the original version more, but Capcom really put a lot of effort in making the Remake more realistic. I love both versions, coz to me, they are separate games to be enjoyed not to be compared to. But I would love to see their dynamic go deeper in the DLC hopefully. (And get Ada's new VA more voice acting lessons before the release 😅)
