The game opens in 2314, on Tau Volantis, an ice-covered planet with an irregularly-shaped moon, where Sovereign Colonies Armed Forces (S.C.A.F.) Privates Tim Kaufman (Scott DeFalco) and Sam Ackerman retrieve a mysterious object called the Codex. Ackerman dies in an avalanche, and Kaufman gives the Codex to his commanding officer, General Mahad. Mahad, being the only other survivor, executes Kaufman, purges the Codex data, and commits suicide.

Say what you will about Dead Space 3 (action instead of horror; microtransactions; etc.) but it is an absolutely amazing co-op game. I had a blast running through it with a friend and getting to see the ending of Isaac Clarke's story.

If they wanted to make a co-op game, why choose Dead Space series? The two first games was single player. Logically, the third should be single player. A mode co-op, why not. But not mainly co-op game. It's Dead Space, not Gears of War, which is a really good Co-op Game Series.

Ellie is really hot and all but yeah that really was the most petty mellow drama I had to put up with in any videogame. Issac separates from his "friends" so many times it made me slap my head till it was the color of a cherry. If I take a shot for every in the amount of times I have heard the phrase "I will catch up to you guys later" I would be more drunk than Homer Simpson and Peter Griffin combined.

I don’t like how they handled Ellies character but everything else in this game was 100% awesome. I had so much fun customizing weapons! The snowsuit is cool too. Seriously I played this like crazy back in 2013. What’s cool is that they also give you optional side missions to do. This game is a solid nine in my opinion.

Like girl NO you have a boyfriend now, be loyal. she even says robert isn't usually like that sooo...maaaaybe it's cause it's not his fault, but HERS? and Isaac doesn't help matters, only calling for ellie when the crash landing on the planet happened (Like literally he only calls for HER and none of the others.) and on the communicator when he talks first, he literally ONLY SAYS ELLIE'S NAME. like dude talk to the others and stop being obvious. they're both obviously still in love and poor robert has to be in the center of it.

This game was fun, I just wish ea didn't take away it's fear induced theme, and turn into a more action oriented game. Such wasted potential because they were greedy. Dead space is still one of my favorite zombie game series, I hope the new remaster they do good.

Why on earth are the subtitles so small? Even at full screen and maximum resolution, you need perfect vision to read them. EDIT: Apparently this happens when you play the PC version of ds2 and ds3 in 4k, but there's a mod to fix it.

Watched this back to back with DS 1 & 2 and my god did the writing take a nosedive straight off a cliff. The big twist of Robert betraying them was so telegraphed it could have travelled by wire, the villain was completely two dimensional, and it follows the tired sci-fi trope of "Get stranded on dangerous planet and watch the main cast fall one by one." They could have at least given Issac an honorable death but nooo, EA needs to keep making money off him. I had no problem with DS 2 going more in the shooter direction because it still had good writing and successfully managed to carry over some of the creepy atmosphere and mystery that the first game did. This one just felt like a really poorly written sci-fi action movie with no horror and no apparent creative vision to speak of.

I get confused. I love you videos! I'm not a gamer but I do enjoy watching the cut scenes of different video games like Resident Evil, etc. So I saved a couple of your Dead Space videos to watch later. I don't no which one to focus on. Some of the videos have longer run time some have shorter run times. Which one would contain all of the cut scenes? The same with the Resident Evil, there's several Resident Evil videos on your channel so it just confuses me as to which would be the proper order to watch them. Any suggestions? 🙂

Well, in my opinion, Dead Space 3 wasn't as "Dead Space material" as the two first games. Dead Space series weren't only about survival, rescue, love or necromorphs. It was about one single sentence : "EVERYBODY YOU MEET IS INSANE" (or will be eventually), to an extend even the MC (or the player?) can't trust himself (don't lie to me, I know you got that doubt about "Am I just wasting my true bullets on a fucking illusion or what?" at least once), and the EXTREME insanity in every single subject (religion, work, politics, love, science, Artificial Intelligence (shuts down the light when trouble's coming), you name it). And they realized the mistake for forgetting that. Otherwise, why did they do a DLC about that? A possible story plot would have been following : - Isaac himself falling in dementia again ( I mean that's the worst fear for every person who has escaped that mind state, and he wasn't so sure everything was over - if you've seen the ending scene of D.S 2 ) - With triangle love, maybe bring back Ghost Nicole, as a troublemaker. Problem was also, too much people looked like "sane" for too long ( if you tell me that was because the Markers were sealed, why Necromorphs "came back to life"? Without Markers' signals, Necromorphs are just lumps of dead meat, unable to move or react.) Well, like I said, it's just my opinion.

Normally I like your movie cuts, but I gotta say I'm a bit disappointed with this one. Missing out entire sections like what happened to Tucker on the Terra Nova, and even something small and simple like going to down into the basement to get the snow suit. Elements like this add to the story for me. If you can be bothered, please release a 4k version that runs to circa 3 hours, and includes elements like the one mentioned. Thanks

There is a text log you can find in this game where it's a bit of Isaac's diary, I think, and it talks about how they got a replacement eye for Ellie. Isaac remarks in the log that the color doesn't fully match the original.

It's because this Dead Space is more like "Space" and not "Dead". Dead Space was about horror and fear - a simple guy on a normal job trying to survive a nightmare Now Isaac became some sort of Master Chief kicking everyone's butts

Yeh, the dialogue and interpersonal drama is really tack on and out of place in a lovecraftian horror. The skeleton of the story is actually a good conclusion to the trilogy, but EA couldn't help themselves with the formulaic hamfisted moralizing. A little editing and dialogue work-shopping and it would've been a really fun and effective horror action title.

Grateful I didn't have to play through this game! I'd heard it fell off compared to the first two and have to say I agree. Isaac and Ellie didn't surprise me but jeez, it was portrayed so immaturely compared to the genuinely interesting dynamic between him and Nicole. Still, glad I got to see the whole story through, warts and all.

Should a remake arrive for this game, I would not mind seeing things diverge noticeably from the original. Plot obviously needs works, but in reference to things like mechanics, they should probably scrap the weapon building and use it as an opportunity to showcase new weapons or where Isaac has to modify his common arsenal to work with older tech. Equally, he would need to essentially build a rig suit. Could all be done in a few cutscenes, but it would help provide that engineer feel. And to improve the horror, why not have most of the base facility be built under the ice in confined caverns? Obviously this depends on how the story goes, but if a remotely similar plot develops, this would help. Dealing with hull breaches and broken ships in orbit, get down to the surface, and your stuck in caverns that look to be ready to cave in at a moments notice, with Necromorphs crawling out of the ice.

First, the positives, the game design, and graphics are marvelous, especially for 2013. The action is interesting. Besides that, WOW, what a massive letdown compared 1 & 2. I'm glad I didn't play this one. It seems like the story was written by teenagers. I hated the fact that they made this call of duty in space. The villain was one of the most atrociusoly written villains with most generic lines. The stupid love triangle felt forced, and its whole existence was just annoying and unnecessary. It reduced Isaac, one of my favorite video game characters, to a teenage boy fighting for his crush's attention. Robert's decision and dialogue were suited for a 12 year old, not a seasoned fighter. I don't know if I could hate EA anymore if I tried.
