+Menace in the corner Did not talk about tone, I spoke of the way of playing it. I would never touch the same as Petrucci even if I had a signature.... hehehehe
@samarhello9 жыл бұрын
Davidson Moraes ah, I understand now. It's just you said 'THE Petrucci' which would make more sense if you were referring to the signature guitar. But yeah, I see your point. Not just anyone can play a Petrucci song, signature guitar or not.

+Menace in the corner That! I agree with everything.

The different recording sessions is so that he gets the rhythm parts down and then goes into the solo. This is done in the studio as well. It isn't recorded all at once. It can be, but it'd be unusual, and would leave more room for error.

the best gauge for a guitar tuned in D, is 11. I personally use this tuning, like most guitar players use 0.09 = E Standard 0.10 = Eb or Drop D (some players use this gauge for E standard) 0.11 = D Standard 0.12 = C Standard

In the original song the guitar is in D standard,but the video uploader has the guitar tuned in B standard.
@oldGnRrocks19 жыл бұрын
if this isnt the hardest dream theater song, than idk what is... except maybe the dance of eternity or breaking all illusions
@samarhello9 жыл бұрын
Dance of Eternity isn't hard on the guitar at all... why do people assume it is? That song is all about the drummer.
@oldGnRrocks19 жыл бұрын
The Human i have no idea, because i dont have a 7 string.
@samarhello9 жыл бұрын
oldGnRrocks1 Well, FYI, it's not, really. Playing in odd time signatures is second nature to most guitarists who are exposed to progressive metal. The riffs aren't that complicated and there aren't any tough lead parts compared to other songs. Obviously it's a Dream Theater song, so it's not easy, but a song like In The Name of God or Lost Not Forgotten is far tougher.
@samarhello9 жыл бұрын
oldGnRrocks1 Breaking all Illusions is also hard.
@oldGnRrocks19 жыл бұрын
The Human it is pointless to argue what is hard and what is not. i cant tell you for sure if i think its hard, because i dont have a 7 string. and in my original comment i said breaking all iluusions... and i can play it, its not that hard after all though.

outstanding job not only for playing the most difficult DT song from the last album imo (pretty much because of the solo) perfectly, but also for playing it on a guitar (beautiful guitar btw) that's tuned down to B like i think yours is. the only thing i don't understand is at 8:04 how you reach the D on the last fret without bending the string as it should be a B but maybe i'm wrong with your tuning or maybe you recorded the audio separately for that part, anyway, like and straight to my favs
