I've had issues with grains and gluten all my life, but didnt have the knowledge or resources to understand. I'm gluten sensitive, not celiac. It was called pseudo science by previous doctors. I've spent 8 years in and out of the mental hospital with severe psychosis, at 53 - 60 years of age. Its been the most devastating struggle to get help or diagnosis. I'm now gluten-free forever. I also have 'leaky gut'. This video is life- and health- altering. Thank you greatly.

Radiologist have a difficult time diagnosing. I have ataxia when I eat gluten. I’ve had an MRI done and the report read “the inferior cerebellar vermis is hypoplastic, which is congenital”. This is how people are misdiagnosed because there is a huge lack of awareness of how gluten affects the brain. I’ve been sick all of my life but my neurological symptoms came in 2007 first with a headache then tingling and I had fluid in my head when I would turn it from right to left; vice versa. Then came the balance issues, difficulty speaking, brain fog, feeling like I’m on a boat. Gluten has shrunk a part of my brain. Doctors think this is rare but it’s not rare it’s just underdiagnosed. So anyone who has neurological symptoms and have had a CT or MRI and the radiologist reports back that you have an abnormality that is congenital but you have neurological symptoms- push for more answers and advocate for yourself and spread the word of this amazing doctor in this video.

Similar situation with me. My MRI showed up with spondylosis of the spine and they also said it was congenital even though one of my symptoms was inability to walk for the 1st half hour each morning (something like a fawn trying to walk for the first time.) I also had symptoms of celiac. I do not have the primary gene that makes celiac certain, but I do have the 2 secondary SNPs that can cause celiac if gluten consumption doesn't stop.

Prof Hadjivassiliou diagnosed me with gluten ataxia and gluten encephalopathy, however it was the diagnosis of gluten psychosis that was life-changing, and allowed me to reverse what was, until then, a diagnosis of bipolar disorder type 1. I notice at 4:11 the mention of psychosis on the bottom of the slide, but as yet there is still no confirmed numbers or full understanding why some of us go on to develop psychiatric disorders when we eat gluten. Maybe implementing a strict gluten free diet as a first line of treatment for severe mental illness might be a more ethical approach than antipsychotic medication?

Cut out gluten and now just waiting for my health to improve. Healing the gut is key to preventing a severe reaction to gluten.

Do not use Gluten Free * prepared commercial food, snacks etc… Some of their ingredients could end being as irritative as the gluten itself for our already sensitive gut. Eat fresh prepared food, as organic, non gm, antibiotic and hormone free as possible. Not related but important: drink distilled or ( preferably AND ) deep aquifers water. Metals can not float in the vapors of distlled water. Some deep aquifers are still clean too. 🚰 and bottled waters in some countries are carrying a metal that we do not want inside of us. Famous now because it is related to the “ modern preventive” You now… 💪.

Thank you for posting. My ability to keep my balance (on my feet) was deteriorating at 54 YO. My overall balance was noticeably declining at 34YO with ice skating, horseback riding. My brilliant psychiatrist suggested a gluten free diet. I no longer need to use a railing, I wouldn’t even consider hanging on to railing today. Now 61YO. However unfortunately my balance in Yoga class is awful. There must be permanent damage. I have kept a meticulous journal for 6 years with symptom resolution, or no change. I hold a BS degree in biology, and BS in Pharmacy. I would love to share my information with you, along with resolution of chronic fatigue syndrome, brain fog. inability to speak fluently, memory improvement (although dementia seems to be advancing). Many many other of my symptoms may be related as well. Currently my son and one daughter experience significant symptoms of this disease. If I can be of any help in this research or my data, please reply.

Hi Macie, for years I would describe the feeling as “being in a daze”. I had this as a young girl and it worsened to 1-2 days a week in college, until it ruled my world 5-7 days a week in my 50’s. I used what was available, sugar and caffeine to get my brain to work. At work, the afternoons were worse, I would consume 4-8 cookies and tea, candy bars and coffee. Sweet snacks throughout the day. A nurse introduced me to the phrase brain fog, and I knew that was what I had.
@lrx54
@lrx54 3 жыл бұрын
I should add that after 10 weeks without gluten, I’ve had no brain fog days. Six years later at 61 years old, I’ve had no brain fog. I did eat an egg McMuffin a few years ago, the foggy feeling came back the next day with balance issues. I now consider gluten to be a poison to my brain.

Dairy should be avoided too. Casein can mimic gluten. The casein protein is also very structurally similar to gluten, so the same molecular mimicry that triggers an attack when you eat gluten can also occur when you eat casein from dairy, initiating an autoimmune response. In fact, roughly 50% of those with gluten intolerance are casein intolerant as well.

A very informative lecture which really describes my symptoms to a T. I have been on a wheat and gluten free diet since 2016,where I used to have a breakout of hives and anaphylaxis along with gut disturbances of bloating and diarrhea sometimes with blood and mucus in the stool too.(Been happening for several years) I was diagnosed with severe Stroke like migraine(Hemiplegic related) in 2021 due to having balance and slurred speech after being admitted many times to hospital,on 3 MRI's I've had done dating back to 2012 and this year there are findings of white matter Ischemic changes. I have had to have had CPR done twice this year due to all this occurring and am under the care of a Hematologist and several other Specialists which seems to be a race against time to get a proper diagnosis. Seems I have multiple disorders but most are Neurological related.

If you can't get tested, try going completely gluten free. But remember, you have to be on gluten for at least six weeks (I think, check with a doctor) for the tests to work. It can get better, but it takes a long time. I don't think it ever goes away completely. But if you have what he is talking about, staying on gluten will make you worse.

Because other grains don't contain gluten. Oats contain avenin, which can have a similar effect to gluten (they're also very prone to cross contamination) and dairy may cause secondary problems from gluten related lactose intolerance. That's it. You may have other intolerances (to, eg. soy, corn, eggs etc), but those have nothing to do with gluten, and are not related to gluten ataxia. Don't buy Dr Osborne's bullshit.
