Thanks for reviewing. Good to see the older gear again. Not long ago, this was a flagship processor. Someday, kids will be making fun of quad cortex units too!!!

I had this same one, for the time it was a killer board and the fact it had a tube and an expression pedal built in, oh and it was all metal besides the switches (which failed on me and why I abandoned it) was a godsend when I got it. Very cool that you still have this. Crazy

Used properly, It does great job still. And IMHO some thing does better than newer top units. But some people don't understand what guitar speaker or speaker simulation does... This wideo shows how to make RP20 sound cheap and funny. Maybe some big musig gear manufacturers want that...

It's all presets. I couldn't really figure out the programming.

@@gearfacts please check the cabinet emulation status. In the demo here You use RP20 direct into interface propably. In Utility section You can set tehe cabinet emulator mode to "global". Direct sounds without guitar speaker or cabinet emulation sound weird

Cool video man. Old gear can still be pretty exciting despited a maybe inferior sound quality compared to newer gear. But it still has so much charm. These are some wicked unique sounds you demonstrate here 👍👍 the clean presets are actually very nice and still pretty usable i think.

As you have comprehensively shown, these older FX units may not be as pristine (digital) as modern units but they often have some totally 'off the wall' presets and possibilities for many instruments, due I guess as nobody knew at that time what guitarists were actually going to use now the multi-FX market is established everyone tends to stick with the same old tones. Also they can be used as parts of a modular synth (for no money at all) were you can plug in any sound source you like and 'mangle' it in various interesting ways, and here the less than perfect quality of the units sound is a boon rather than a drawback.

I agree 100% . Hook up one of these old units to any Casio or Yamaha keyboard and you pretty much can get any sound you want including high end synth stuff !

@@kimthompson5871 ....... and the fun of parallel processing and using the channel sends of old mixers with the FX to give wolftones and feedback on the FX channel also opens yet more possibilities.

Digitech rp20 Full bandwidth effects (20-20kHz) • 24-bit signal path, 48-bit internal data path Has untapped potential that can not be demonstrated in a short video. Check it out in deeper detail. I have the Rp20, the Rp21d, and the Rp1. All are great!!

That period of digital modeling with a tube slapped in is so fun (bonus points for millennium tech blue LED). Who was the first to do that? This one looks pretty early.

The obvious thing to do is activate the internal speaker sim or better yet add an external cab sim.. otherwise you'll end up with a harsh digital mess.
