"Glyph" Celeste Custom Map 100% Speedrun in

Really fun run now that I've gotten it somewhat down. Not sure how low I'll go with it but here's my progress for now :)

I wouldn't even describe it as ludicrously difficult, it's only slightly harder than Farewell.

It's not as hard as TGH makes it look with his speed strats lol. I'm an average player (194 goldens) and beat it in 4 hours, while farewell took me 6 hours my first time. It's a little bit harder than Farewell though. And it is SO much fun.

Here's some potential made up context for this chapter canonically. About a year after chapter 8 and chapter 9 were added, the game devs add another update without telling anybody. Some people catch on and wonder why it was updated without any warning from the developers, but most of them don't think much of it. When asked on twitter what the purpose of this extra patch was, the devs respond with a simple smiley face. This causes quite a commotion in the community and people are trying to figure out what this could possibly mean and if it had any implication to the story. It's found a month or two later that in Farewell, in the last section in Event Horizon with dream blocks in it that there is a small crevice in the wall near the end of the stage that is normally there. However, a player found that repeatedly dashing into it would yield strange results. Doing it 10 times created a small rumble that is hard to notice, doing it another 10 times created a visible crack in the wall and the music fades away. Each consecutive five dashes and then after a while one dash makes the screen shake and the wall crack more and more until it is fully broken in glorious slow-motion and a hidden pathway is revealed. It leads to a strange, haunted, sinister feeling library in one screen with nothing but a quiet perpetual hum in the background. Madline explores this and without warning when she is in the middle of the screen the screen glitches and she is immediately kicked out of the chapter. The game moves the camera to the glyph chapter that is also in space with the chapter number and title with question marks. This is the chapter that plays and this is how it is revealed to the internet

Congrats on such a great run. This is a genuine question though: what were your thoughts when you decided "I'm just gonna carry this berry 5 screens longer than I need to so I can save 9 frames of stopping time"?

This is a genuine answer: it's a rhythm thing. If he stopped to consciously think about how he was taking a big risk to save a few frames he'd likely break his rhythm and be more likely to make a mistake. Speedrunners learn speedrunner strats, deviating from them to play casual strats is just as risky as holding onto a berry for way longer than the average person would dare (assuming they even could).

I spent some 6 hours clearing this map entirely and getting through the hell of these last chapters and I didn't know this map held so many skips and demodashes, that's really an interesting run and well performed , congrats.

Im pretty sure you can retry after leaving the room with the 4 burning coins to go through the tunnels faster, like at 13:31 Edit: just tested it you can on the one at 13:31 but im not sure about the others. Edit: its faster for the pink and yellow one, but not for the red and blue ones.

I had an idea: There are 6 worlds in glyph What if in the different worlds you would have different effects? In Spring you would have the double dash In Summer you would have only one dash In winter you would have Core Dashes In Fall you would have the Super-dash variant enabled In the Grey City you would have the effect you last had before you entered the Grey City Idk what you could do for Void

I have no clue what’s going on in this level. What are the portal thingies that send the player to an entirely different world? In a weird sense, it’s kinda creepy, and I love it! If I were better at the game or the gameplay was designed for less skilled players I’m certain I’d love this map!

this is around farewell difficulty; if you can beat farewell, you should be able to beat this map nobody really knows why madeline’s going through the different seasons (spring, summer, winter, autumn, *void* too); the story isn’t really explicitly stated in the game. people think it’s something about cycles, and something about the creator’s previous map

I have never played glyph, but here's my take 18:36 This area is unlocked upon grabbing the dark secret from each season. The rooms are based around using the portals while to reset the room while keeping momentum or double dash crystal. (And also they reset your position in the room, unlike most portals) 18:54 Shows that the lighter walls are just big portals, and also the mechanic of a double dash staying with you when you touch one. 19:36 The code for the dashes here are written in glyphs (ha) in a bunch of books you find throughout the chapter. Not sure how they're translated.
