You don't play 3..Qd7 against Shirov and expect to survive.

Actually black has a very good game. On move 8.Bc4 black has the awesome Qe4+! =/+ or =. 9.Qe2 Qxe2 10.Ke2 Ne7 11.Nd4 a6 12.Nc3 Nbc6 etc.The opening isn't what lost it for the guy.
