compressed air is INSANELY inefficient. Compressing air heats it up. That heat is LOST and cannot be recovered, Ever. Only the most technologically illiterate could even consider this crazy idea. Having an AI telling us about it does not make it possible or reasonable.

Maybe for initial starting and stopping it can improve performance but it is something that can wear out and it adds weight.I assume breaking will transform into stored energy and maybe idling in traffic can be used when moving again, but it might just increase city mpg.

The only way this might work, is like the nitrogen compressors we used in the service. A truck sized unit stored liquid nitrogen, that is vaporized resulting in low pressure. The low pressure nitrogen powered a high pressure pump, providing nitrogen with pressure of 3500 psi. The high pressure nitrogen might power a small air engine. The only advantage was liquid nitrogen was cheap.

If built correctly the air tanks would be part of the strength of the car and also on impact the air would just rush out because it isn’t explosive and the tanks would be made from carbon fibre omg

The Air must be compressed, generally by Compressors that are powered by Electricity. 68.9% of all Electricity is produced by oil and Gas. OOPS. Where is the environmental help?
