My winter daily '96 Jimmy has the positive cable fall off all the time and i checked how the cable is connected and decided theres no way in hell im putting in that much work to replace a battery cable so here i am. Thought id rethread it but I didnt realize i could take the whole bolt out of it! Thanks for this video. In the future ill be 350 swapping it and when I do im definitely putting in some correct battery terminals instead of that GM sidepost shit.

@@expertxx9923 glad you got it fixed. Sometimes i make up my own copper terminals and use a pair of scrimps from say harbor freight. It crimps the wire to a solid piece as good as factory solder. I hate when i see wires cut and the clamp on battery terminals lol they fail and wire gets brittle.

What happens most of the time is the threads in the battery itself might be threaded. The contact is just lead. I bought a battery terminal bolt with a slightly longer thread so it would go in a little deeper into the battery where the threads aren’t threaded. That worked. It’s just a temporary fix until the battery gets replaced, then I’ll just use the original bolt and make sure I don’t over tighten next time.

That doesn’t seem impossible to do. I have learned batteries don’t have much wiggle room for longer bolts. Glad it tightened down for you though, I would of considered using a tap set to go up a size. Also a heli-coil

Exactly what I did

@@ZacpactvHe's correct. The longer bolt is what you'll probably need. Had the same issue on my Corvette. Autozone had a side terminal replacement bolt that was about twice as long, with a spacer to prevent bottoming out in the hole and piercing the battery. much better grip and no issues for over a year now.
