I have the same battery with the same problem. Very smart solution as long as that bolt doesn't get grounded out. Yes remove the ground first so if you ground out your wrench when removing the positive it won't arch!

Savior!! We are working on a big deployment for a very important client prospect and one of the solar system batteries stripped out. This one has a male post and the jam nut screws in. The first time it went in just fine but later we needed to add a cable to that post and the nut just jammed half way out, now it wont go neither back in or out is just stuck right in the middle. I didn’t think i can just leave that nut and just put another one on top and move the cables to the middle of both nuts. Thanks for the idea!!

Thank you, thank you, thank you. Simple, easy and effective. Not a mechanic and for a couple of dollars and only a few minutes I fixed my stripped battery connection. On a side note, I hope the clown who invented side battery connections rots in a very warm place!

I might be crazy but you might want to hold that bolt with another wrench while you tighten the you tighten the nut so it doesn't turn that bolt in any further you may have said that though

They sell the replacement bolts, some made of brass, at places like Amazon. No modification needed, just remove the worn out bolts and replace them with the new ones.

@rickr2029 Жыл бұрын
You didnt show the positive cable reattatched. You ended the video with a bolt and a nut in the positive treaded side. That would help the viewer understand exactly what the "final setup" looks like. Otherwise up to that point, I liked but as it ended, incomplete.

I'm lost as to how exactly you actually repaired the threads. All you did was use a different bolt
@garysauter79973 жыл бұрын
Longer bolt, thereby fixing the problem caused by the stripped threads.. worded poorly.. problem resolved regardless.
@waltongraham7031 Жыл бұрын
Oh ok I see he was working on the positive and didn’t show us him putting the cable on first and then he said put the negative cable on at the end. I assumed he was working on the - the whole time and was saying put the cable on after the bolt. I think I have it correct now?💁🏾

You don't need to cut the rubber just use channel locks to pop the bolt out of the insulator.

Actually a couple of months before the warantee runs out. I had 3 of them exchanged at Pep Boys and they refused to exchange the 4th one in my Escalade. I had one in my 1970 Camara too. “Had”…. Past tense. They are real junk now that they are made in Mexico.
