GM Instrument Cluster Stepper Motor Comparison

In this video I compare the difference in the c5, x27 and the unmarked stepper motors. The x15 makes a last second appearance. I hope y'all enjoy seeing the inside of these stepper motors.

I ran into another stepper motor for these today. The MCR MR1109 it was 2015 Dorman refurbished clusters. It looks like they can be picked up for about $1.10 ea

How did the Dorman one look? They don't exactly have the best track record for electronic parts.

Hello there I have a mess on my hands I have a 1993 Silverado c1500 4.3 5 speed manual I have a cluster it’s completely Disassembled the kid thought he was gonna upgrade with a Coyote dash it never happened I’m now trying to find some information to readReassemble this mess I can’t find any info on it any help would be appreciated

Unfortunately I don't really work on any of the stuff older than 99 new body style

My steppers make noise pretty sure it’s just the rpm gauge that’s always noisy though

Thanks I've been watching your vids and got to wondering what they looked like inside. I know this is an older vid but I'm catching up on them. I like to tinker with stuff so if and that's a big IF I was to do this for someone else I couldn't charge that way they should not b*tch about it. Notice I said ( should ) cause you know how that goes. Thanks for posting keep them vids coming and can you make them a bit longer.

I promise you even if you do it for free some will find something to say if there was a reason to say something. Also free/super cheap brings that kind of customer. They won't respect appointment times, no show no call and wants extra. If you are doing for a friend or something no big deal. I'd just be careful opening up to the public for free. You break their board and they are going expect you to replace it.
