Dan Kelly cause once a long time ago many belived gm island was a myth and didnt exist ... and that you could not get there if it existed no matter what ... what you see in this video is kinda nostalgic and one of 3 ways to get there back in the day :D there where some other ways to get there later as well :D you even can go there today onthe live version ... and probably still piss off a gm and see the "white cell" :D have fun

+Babli From Gnomeregan I remember the way that had you walk east (into the water)from Durotar near the starting zone. I miss the old days of exploiting game mechanics to reach undevelopped parts.. Like I visited Hyjaal before it was even in the game. There was a weird In construction sign there which makes me believe they wanted and knew people were going to access that part. So they put a little easter egg in there. I've been and done a lot of things to visit exploitable parts of the game but I've never been banned or even had a warning for doing it. Unless you break the game and get items for doing nothing or complete quests or achievements with some third party tool they don't really care if you managed to hop invisible walls and go into an empty part of the game.

back in vanilla, a group of people modded the zeppelin outside org to take everyone to gm island. They summoned about 50 people there over the course of an hour, and we all got a 3 hour suspension.

If you type /who GM Island in game, you occasionally get to see a game master there. Or just 0 players total, meaning the place still exists. (8/12/14)

@SlothicFilms How does the GM know what chat program you use? If you are not actually connected to the chat window yourself, they would have no way to reach you. They have to speak through Ingame chat if they initiate a conversation. If you initiate one with customer service on the website that is different. And in retail ran MMO's GM's and Customer Service are in different departments. You only speak to a GM/customer service reps in private servers. Usually that would also be the server owner.

It is also a mage bug in Scarlet monestary (the armory) . This one time, i helped a freind get trough the dungeon. There was a boss at a sort of pit, and it blinked down into it to kill it. @wolfshaman1 To show that GM's ban accounts for little to NO reason. It is completely possible to be randomly teleported to anywhere in the game, based on a sudden mix up in the games' code, the server "skips" when reading the HDD, etc. Computers aren't infallible. Now, his screen name is what probably game him away, along with using code mods. He may have proven, and did it well, that it was a public server, but what he was doing was obvious to the GM's.

I mean, perhaps I missed something when we covered things such as GM's in MMO's and customer service, and such like that... Of course we just skimmed the topic, but I do remember learning that GM's in retail are hired specifically for that purpose- to monitor player behavior. While some use logs, at least one GM must be available ingame at all times. Or so that is what my textbook said.

On a private server (yes a private server, but blizzlike) a friend was once ported to the gm island. (patch stand: wotlk)

Actually no it is not. I have thoroughly read and re-read the ToS to find it and it is not there. Also I contacted Blizzard themselves to confirm it being in the ToS and they even confirmed it. The words said to me by several different Blizzard employees were "Although GM Island is not listed as a punishable offense in the ToS or anywhere else, we choose to do this as part of our list of unannounced rights reserved."

how does that speed hack and time lapse work? I can understand maybe making you faster, but I saw another video, and when they used it, all the mobs sped up.. but arent the mobs locations decided by the server and not the client? in this video the mobs looked like they were moving at normal speed.

@SlothicFilms On your screen ingame, it would still appear they would whisper you. Even if they aren't actually typing from in the game itself. Whether this is real or not isn't the question. I know he was banned on some account, and I'm sure it wasn't Blizzard. However, GM's are always present in world on the Blizzard servers. Even if you don't see them, they are there. If she saw him cheating, she may have wanted him to know she really did see him by appearing so he couldn't deny it.

@AfflitionDriud Modified game data, he basically had the client side data changed to allow landmass where it originally wasnt or to change it in some way. You can actually achieve this because much of the game data is held on the installed client side PC, all the official servers hold are things like character data mostly.
