I have the same truck but it's an EXT and I am about to do this job. It took me a minute to figure out why this looked so different from mine. It's because mine is an all wheel drive so in that beautiful open working space on this video there is a massive front differential right there which makes a mount swap from under the truck near impossible. Easier to do it from the top by removing the steering shaft.

I just finished replacing my driver's side engine mount. I have a 2007 Yukon Denali AWD. It is near impossible to do it from underneath because of the transfer case. Your doesn't appear to be a AWD. I replaced it with the Hummer H3 mount which is solid rubber, not the crap Gel filled original that came with the vehicle.

The motor mount you replaced , was only the drivers side? Is it the same process for the passenger side?

I have a 2007 Yukon Denali XL AWD, I need to replace the motor mounts. I've seen a lot of online videos on the Driver's side motor mount replacement but hardly any on the passenger side mount. Why is that? Do you really only need to replace the driver's side? On a AWD, the passenger side looks much more complex. Any advice is appreciated.

Normally speaking, the passenger side gets less damaged but if this has been going on for a while the passenger side will damage. As in how does it come out.... when I do them I remove the exhaust manifold and slightly Jack the engine up. It’s a hard job !

orville58 I removed the crossmember just to support the engine while lifting from the oil pan. If you use an engine hoist you don’t need to remove the cross member

@@OzMechanics Even some OEM mounts dont last. You need the H3 Hummer mount if you want it to last. Made for a little more abuse and much longer life than the GMC/Chevy/Caddy versions.

@@OzMechanics the H3 mount is on the police trucks which is why they are more durable. I cant remember part # off top but I think it was like an 09 H3 mount that fit the 07-14 Tahoe/Silverado/Suburban/Escalade. If you do a google search on tahoeyukon forum, there is a section dedicated to this.

I found that the effected motor mount is the driver side. Even when lifting the engine up to remove the motor mount passenger side stays intact

Love your videos and they only help me confirm that GM parts is a piece of s*** that's not even made in America any more. Give that new motor mount a good cross-country drive and you'll have to replace it again.

I just put on new poly mounts from Atomic Fabrication & Performance, if anyone is looking for GREAT quality mounts and MADE IN THE USA (Alabama), take a look at this guys product! Its a little more then other options, but the quality by far is better then anything I have seen, TBD how they perform but I'm confident they will!

Process for 4wd: *Remove wheel/tire *Remove inner fender well *Disconnect electrical connections in the way *Remove manifold heat shield *Remove broken mount heat shield (ripped it out by hand) *Remove mount bolts *Jack up engine using catalytic converter, this will create enough space to maneuver the old mount out. It's like a puzzle but it can be removed through that space. *Install new mount *Reassemble Did this today, it was a bear of a job, the worst part was the bottom mount bolts that did not want to come out. The threads are exposed to the elements and have a lot of built up crud. No way to access them to clean them I just sprayed them with penetrating oil and kept working the bolts back and forth. About a 4 hour job. Once the mount was unbolted I was able to manipulate it through that space by turning it upside down and around. I put the new mount in the same way I took the old mount out, it took some finesse but I was able to get the new mount in place relatively easy. If you're having a hard time Jack the engine up some more. I took the time to clean the bolts and the threads before reinstalling so that I would not have a hard time with the bolts going back in. I did not have to drop the front diff, I did not remove the steering shaft and nor did I remove the exhaust manifold. So it can be done without removing any of those items.

The manifolds( bolts) on these these vehicles tend to break off very easily and will create exhaust leaks. Happened to my wifes tahoe. This is also a bear to repair. Would recommend not using any part of the exhaust to jack up on with these particular motors. Use the 2x4 and jack on the oil pan. Otherwise this job is indeed a beast for the home mechanic.

Yea 4x4 is a different story. Luckly I’ve done a tone of 2 wheel drive chevys and only 1 4x4. The city I’m in really doesn’t have many 4x4’s
