I can't believe they went to the trouble of taking the transfer case out and replacing the pump but didn't bother to replace the main shaft bearings than have that stupid plastic race that always breaks and causes major, major problems.

Usually a GM 2500HD or 3500HD I did mine recently. A 2004 Silverado 2500HD with an NP261HD transfer case.

I went to check my tcase fluid yesterday and it was bone dry I put fluid in it and it’s pissing out of a hole from the pump. Now I’m concearned how far I’ve ran the tcase dry of fluid not sure what I should do... do I just buy the pump rub kit or rebuild the tcase it’s sort of making a weird noise going in and out of gear but not sure if it’s the tail shaft since the bearing is bad

I just watched a vid of a mechanic who rebuilt one after someone ran theirs dry. You can probably find the vid. You cant tell how much damaged it has until you take it apart. Do not just add oil and start driving it again.

Do you need to put the little clip back in after putting in pump upgrade?

No throw the clip away. We have seen a lot of cases over the years where that clip is broke and does no good.
