Glad you're back, I've been missing these videos :)

I think he's been busy making a DVD, which he MAY, if we are very lucky, slyly promote at rare moments. I'm guessing it'll be around twenty quid and is probably about 8 hours of content. 🙄😝😁 Just kidding Simon! Massive props to what you teach us all on the tube! Awesome upload, as per!

Love to see you commentating the chess tournaments , your analysis brings a lot of life to every broadcast. You are a legend GM Simon Williams

Welcome back Simon. Missing your commentary at the Aimchess Rapid. 'Rocky' Trent is all well and good, but you can't beat the GingerGM alongside David and Jovanka.

For what it's worth, thumbs up on the new intro. The old one was a masterpiece but it was only fun to watch the first few times. The curse of good animation.

I'm happy that I spotted that tactic winning the rook in the first game - I was confused why Simon didn't mention it at first. And in the second game, I analysed and the computer is fine with Bf7+, although g7+ is better. But the key move was Kb5+ to get them to move their pawn, then go back with Kf5+ and the dark-squared bishop can come out with check (Bf4+) once the king is on c7. It was fairly even until they hung their queen for no reason.

For your next speed run, you definitely should increase it to 15 minutes per side. Also, I would like to request some kings gambit or Vienna gambit games in the future (maybe for the next speed run). Cheers mate.

i hope people beyond 1900elo stop playing the french exchange so we get simons killer french defence back. i like the black lion but playing the jobava london is enough for my repertoire.

In the second game Qc4 instead of d5 looks like an EZ win for White. How does Black deal adequately with the threat of Qe6 mate?
@jacobmidkiff64602 жыл бұрын
Black can push c6 for an escape route for the king. White is still completely winning but after Qe6+, Kc7, Bf4+ - the king still gets away and avoids all mate threats.

Tilted Tuesday. Lol. No Guiness?
@anythingpeteives2 жыл бұрын
After checking the king with Qc5 and then the king moves to d7 then Qc4 threatens mate on e6. Not sure if black can survive. Probably wrong 😭

Please rest and do bugger all. I tried to carry on as normal when I got it in 2020 before the vaccines and ended being way worse than I should have been. I'm still not 100% 2 years later.

7:20 your rook is hanging 😅😅
@handsomegames14332 жыл бұрын
Not immediately because the rook is pinned but if white had played Ne2 then black is forced to play …Qh4 after which the rook is, as you point out, hanging 😅
@irjake2 жыл бұрын
@@handsomegames1433 That tactic worked only after Nf6 took away the retreat square for the queen where it can still guard the rook at 7:26 , making that knight move a huge blunder (-3.0 to +4.7)

Game number 2 is the reason why I skip a match when see that my opponent is indian. They always play trash chess and never resign and often stall. I really don't know what their problem is.
