Absolutely the best tutorials on the TH350 transmission. Can't thank you enough for all the time and effort you put into recording and editing your work. Will be rebuilding my first ever transmission, the TH350, and will be using your videos as a guide. Have you recorded a video on the tools you use on this job and their names? If not, please consider a video on that subject and suggestions for beginners like me. I plan on working on more TH350's in the future as well. Cheers

Thank you for the kind words, Hell Raiser! Appreciate the feedback. Yes, I will likely publish separate videos in the near future on special tools for each transmission so folks know what to buy for all the units I work on and show on the channel..

Thanks. There are 2 notches in the Th350 case bushings. What is the reason for them and what side do they point at?
@nickstransmissions Жыл бұрын
You're welcome, thank you for watching. The case bushing is direction-agnostic which means it can go in either way...I'm not 100% sure of the reason for those notches but no worries on orientation.
@V8Lounge Жыл бұрын
@@nickstransmissions thank you very much for the quick reply. Maybe these bushings are for more than one transmission but for the TH350 the notches play no role. I'm rebuilding my second one and there is not much information here in germany! :) You have a very clean working area. I like videos like that. Greetings from the V8Lounge

Thank you very much for the kind words, V8Lounge! Please sub if you haven't already :) I have quite a few TH350 vids on the channel so should serve as a good resource for you as you work through your rebuild.

Hey thanks for this. I’ve watched this like 10 times pausing trying to get the parts I need. Seems like some kits have some of this but none have it all. Any idea a list & where to buy it all with a link? I’m already scared to do the job not being certain I have the parts is even scarier Thanks!

Hi djmrvip, thank you for watching. Check Transtar's website for a distributor in your area. Chances are, you'll have one if you live in/near a major city. If not, check eBay - I buy a lot of parts off there when i cant find them locally. Dont worry about not having or being able to get parts as stuff for TH350s is widespread. If you were working on some ancient cast iron powerglide or even an FMX, would be a different story...

another great video, Nick. I just finished a stock-ish rebuild of a TH350C with a great deal of help from your videos, and I plan to build heavier duty TH350 soon. Is there a rebuilt kit you recommend? Any recommended shift kits? Thanks!

Thanks, Matt! Appreciate the support and kind words. What sort of application will the next TH350 be used in (i.e racing/street-strip, towing hauling, etc) and what make/model vehicle?
@MattWilder-i1j3 ай бұрын
@@nickstransmissions thanks for the reply, Nick, and sorry for not being more specific. I'd like to build something pretty versatile. I'd probably drop it into an '81 GMC Vandura shorty, which has a relatively mild 350 small block and does some light towing (e.g., Airstream Bambi). Do you have a go-to brand (or brands) when it comes to rebuild kits and shift kits?

Gotcha, I think a fundamentally sounds build with upgraded frictions, Sonnax HD intermediate outer sprag race, high flow filter and, if you want a Transgo 1& 2 shift kit which will dual-feed the direct clutch through their separator plate...I typically dual feed through the case by plugging the high-reverse feed passage in the case itself then leave the center seal out of the drum and middle pump stator sealing ring off (the middle of the larger three sealing rings towards the base of the stator). Here's an example of a Deluxe kit w/high energy Alto frictions that's sold on eBay: www.ebay.com/itm/221950009602?itmmeta=01J31JD5ASMK463DWK1TNR0NCV&hash=item33ad406102:g:5k8AAOSwPpZZ86qk&itmprp=enc%3AAQAJAAAAwGG4jb16ceAyZ4ADUf2WW18UijSfpqPLaNLNVlRtmfxAz0hudNMF%2B3CTlMMhnYQOAE76QQPxZroaHCGI6QbBAkmaLHtTrV0zOWccCFvCQPugAWN5vFOZhRT4SULp7fYbggxKJ5MAY263yVV4sZjLHu2tV%2FXFUNz%2FWU2yvZUT2aeGZdpebvAlTrQv7EjOFer8l6mkOWkmrLqlvwiopu4nqjHqg4IilhI3yfrcdtK1SKMi1b%2B8TOsDGvVupE9UVHsEUw%3D%3D%7Ctkp%3ABk9SR8rVtLKYZA You can also purchase the Sonnax HD outer sprag race and Transgo shift kit on eBay as well. Lastly, I will install a Sonnax TH350-LB1 boost valve (these are kind of pricey compared to the equivalent kit for other units). Note that I hardly ever install shift kits in these transmissions as any HD or HP build gets dually fed via the case but if you're not comfortable doing that, the Transgo kit is a great alternative. Let me know if you have any more questions.
