3 excellent, anchors of the best era of news broadcast. True professionals, with healthy competition, at the same time good friends. That is the sign of good human beings. Those were the days of true quality reporting. I respect all 3, I miss Peter Jennings, have watched from day I came from India in 1984. RIP Peter Jennings. Long live Mr Tom, and Mr Dan, God bless you both. 🤲

I grew up with these three the anchors of their respective networks' news programs, all of which came on at or close to the same time during the evening, 5:30 p.m. local time in most markets, 6:30 eastern time in most markets.

Peter Jennings' voice will forever be associated for me with the smell of Triscuits and a single Coors Lite, Dad's go-to after-work snack. 5:30, he'd walk in the door, say hi, and then collapse on the couch for 30 minutes and watch "the news" (ABC) before rejoining the family as a human being again. (Still meant we could stop mom's mad dash forced labor cleaning campaign as soon as he walked in the door, and instead curl up next to him and listen to what was going on in the world. Between Peter's voice and Dad's presence, there's nowhere I've ever felt safer.
