Yalitza’s biggest bully has been the Mexican people and its media. They can’t fathom the idea that an indigenous woman is nominated for an Oscar, something they think only belongs to a Mexican with “white” attributes. If we can’t appreciate the diversity of our people in Mexico, specially our indigenous people, then what do we have? What are we really proud of?

I am a single mother who was left too with that big responsibility. I am not bitter about it, I just learned to be strong. Then men complaint when women feel empowered when they are the ones giving us that empowerment, they were the ones that puss out of the relationship 😂😂 Then, it's Yalitza, wonderful Yalitza, ❤ I had the fortune to have a nanny when I was little, these people sacrifice their lives and goals to care for others. I don't think there is any greater sacrifice in life. She portrayed this role flawlessly deserves all the nominations of the world!! 🙏👸 Just an FYI, for people that don't know, the best president Mexico has ever had was of indigenous descent, from Oaxaca, just like Yalitza. So glad to watch this two gourgeous, empowered, intelligent, humble women, become the success they already are. I'm so happy for them, they have already won and reach so much. Hope to watch in a near future more Mexicans representation, I do believe this movie is more than just being "white" or indigenous, is about life: family, infidelity, facing adversity, diversity, classism, not being grateful with someone but still need that one person to keep your life going, support, empowerment, love, reslience, it shows the real colours of life and a country ( The colours some often don't want to face). I'm overjoyed that this was another perfect opportunity to show all this indigenous background we got and that we should embrace as a country, that makes our culture rich and beautiful. I'm also glad that Cuarón show the beauty of Mexico and I consider myself fortunate enough to have someone like Cleo in my life, without her I wouldn't be who I am now, she has really become a part of my family. And maybe that's why I love this movie, because is close to home or maybe is just because it shows in a subtle lovely way the side that not everyone want to show, and that is a real shame because we are culturally rich because of that diversity. I really believe the day we all embrace it as it is we will become a better country (and not in the "cocky" kind of way just in a personal and human source of way). And for the ones who don't like please stop tearing apart them just because you don't like it, we have a platform now please don't wasted it on negative comments don't make it about yourselves (Just because you don't like something or someone). As Mexicans we have come a long way, just being represented is a win how many other cultures would like to have the opportunity, spotlight and voice and they simply don't have it, it would also be wonderful to get know other beautiful, stunning cultures and from now on I'll look forward for.

Ahhh!!! The best interview ever done to Yalitza & Marina, THANK YOU Juju CHang. Not minimizing the topic of racism because it's just as important, you bring up the topic of "MATRIARCHY' & "IRRESPONSABLE PATERNITY/PATERNAL FIGURE ABSENCE ", topics important not just in Mexican society buy in the US as well.
