The fascinating thing to me is how 1985 was kinda portrayed as boring in the film because, to a contemporary audience, it was just every day life. 1955 was the part filled with nostalgia and excitement because it was 30 years ago. Now we are nearly 40 years later and modern audiences are just as excited to see 1985 as 1955, so 1985 is packed with the 80s culture we are nostalgic for.

I'm a fan of Back to the Future, and while I haven't seen it YET [coming to my city next year and I plan on getting tix], I did give the soundtrack a few listens. While some of the songs are corny and some I think I'm missing context, I overall enjoyed the soundtrack.

one of the ensemble members came and taught me and other students the choreo for this number at broadway evolved! it's so exciting to see it done on tv and get to do it along with them

Everyone hating in the comments havent even seen the show and are scared of their perfect childhood memories being tampered with. While yes, obviously this is gonna be a big money maker, there was obviously a ton of passion put into it and all the actors are amazing (especially Doc). Plus some of the original producers of the movie literally worked on this. I saw it last night on Broadway and it was phenomenal. People hate just to hate on god.

I think a lot of people don't realize that when Broadway does an adaptation, they don't do it as a cash grab and it's the exception for many creators that don't want remakes. This gives us something new and fun mixed the amazingness of the original. But people have always been that way about Broadway. There's always that gap between people who don't appreciate or understand it. And that's okay!! As long as they let us enjoy what we love!!

I watched this performance here soon after it was dropped on KZbin months ago. I thought the performance here was ok. Honestly I wasn't really blown away by watching this on KZbin. Well I went to the show the weekend before Halloween and I gotta say it was really good. It was a lot better than what I expected. Because of the movie, I can understand how ppl would wonder how in the world can this musical adaptation pull off everything that happened in the movie on a Broadway stage. Well they did and they did it spectacularly! It's a great show and I definitely recommend seeing it if you are a fan of the movie and Broadway.

I wasn't sold on this street performance but saw it yesterday and was honestly blown away with the effects. I'm not a fan of musicals but the effects were worth the price of admission. Also, the girl (or guy?) who played Marty was super talented and did a really great job with all the stunts.

I love this show, it's been massively successful here in the UK but I think perhaps the lead actor here was slightly better cast for the role....he looked very similar to Michael J. Fox and so it made it easier to buy into. Give this show a chance, it is wonderful.

I was in NY last month. Visited Broadway 2 times - Cursed Child (Im huge HP fan), BTTF musical (Im huge fan as well) and the second musical was phenomenal. Still have shivers thinking about that experience. 10/10. Cursed Child was a little meh, but still one of the best shows Ive seen

Dunno about Broadway, but it's currently been going for 2 years in London's West End (where I've seen it twice), and is still selling out night after night and getting rave reviews 🤷‍♂, don't bash it if you haven't seen it on stage - it's way better than this GMA performance when on stage! Can see a long run on Broadway too!

I have always loved the movies since they came out. That being said, this just feels average and thrown together. Some guys in the clothes...with the names and somewhat likeness'...with the DeLorean. I hope this isn't the best part of the score. I didn't see anything that made me say "I GOTTA GO NOW". They blew it here. Should have chosen better. I don't like to be harsh, but this guy is a very uncharismatic performer, and not a good Marty at all. He seems half asleep. I've seen a few clips of his Michael J Fox impression in the dialogue scenes and it's terrible as well. He basically speaks as though his voice is breaking. That said, the whole thing is like a nightmarish mockery, and who knows? Maybe he's just embarrassed to be there. I sure would be. I cannot stand what has become of our culture. Our favorite movies from childhood repackaged and marketed back to us forever as adults, the entire film industry in crisis because this has been going on so long, Broadway completely and long since destroyed by its absolute worst tendencies. Imagine the world we could be living in if we were making great new art. Instead we get crap like this forever. We live in a cultural Hell.

I've seen the musical in London, and it's actually brilliant (complete with flying car) BUT I agree that he's uncharismatic etc. I don't know who he is but I saw the original cast with Roger Bart (who's in the Broadway v as Doc) Hugh Coles as George and Olly Dobson as Marty and they were brilliant. Olly was almost identical to Michael J Fox. The musical version of Back to The Future will bring a lot of new fans too. Like the kids of people who originally saw the movie (which while brilliant and iconic is a product of its time really amd kinda dated with special effects)
