While a great idea, and I agree, performances like this lose a lot of their power when watched on TV. Just my opinion on it, but I have watched Hamilton, and Phantom of the Opera in the past and, while great, just did not have the same feel to them as seeing them live would have.

@@PossumGod12 - Yes! I’ve heard the song and seen the accompanying video. He sings some complex melodies in that song. It affirmed my stance that he is an impressive vocalist. I just hope that he lands a leading role, if he wants one. He doesn’t have a traditional theater voice, which I like very much, but I hope it doesn’t hinder his ability to grow his career. He’s certainly got the talent.

The Curtis brothers are such beloved characters and from what I’ve seen Brent, Jason, and Brody really do them justice. Brent really nails this song, I’m so impressed by him (and love that he is a JMU alum!!) I read this book when I was 12. I remembered there was something special about it. The performance of this song brings that whole story to a vivid new life to me. These gents, they're not just singing, they're not just acting. They're channeling philadelphia. Bravo and congrats to them on the wins. If this is any measure of the whole production then it was well deserved.
@troyfoutch51243 ай бұрын
Not bashing your comments, all very well stated, but wouldn't they be channeling Tulsa, not Philadelphia? Unless you meant the movie Philadelphia, then I totally get it. The Outsiders was required reading in high school and the movie did it justice. Cannot wait to get to NYC to see this show live.

I am so glad that this was made into a musical for the next generation to relate to and enjoy. This cast is PHENOMENAL! I am so glad I could see this show and have these songs as a comfort blanket. I may be over analyzing this but there is something so similar about Brody, Brent and Jason hugging to Tommy, Patrick and Rob hugging in the movie- Pony (Both Brody and Tommy) runs over to Darry and throws his arm around him, Darry (Both Patrick and Brent) wrap his arms around Pony. Soda, who joins the hug after from the side and puts his arms around them (both Jason and Rob) and then Darry (again, both Brent and Patrick do this) puts an arm around Soda. I don’t know if they did it subconsciously or on purpose- but the fact that the hug is nearly if not identical to how the brothers hug in the movie is making me overthink things-
