Can we do a question with more Number of persons(not 1) joining or leaving the group, to see this formula holds good...

It will work for any number of persons provided there's the necessary data present in the question.

sir,why didn't u took a+2 in place of a -2, nd secondary why a+4=30....when ur formula easily tells the difference between the avg. cant we use that as an equation to solve the question like old avg. B- new avg. A=0.2,wouldnt that be much easier nd simple for students to understand.

Hello, We used this method, because we wanted to illustrate the standard framework, which can be very helpful when you get enough practice with it. Any data given, can be input into this model, and you can find what's missing. Having said that, you can use whichever method you find comfortable. Cheers, and all the best for your GMAT Preparation!
