@@joshuamonteiro Here's the catch - you can't prove it would have worked and I can't prove it wouldn't. But we can look at some basic facts, and look at probable results from them. Small boat arrivals are typically about 30000 annually, and Rwanda's capacity is 300. Simple maths shows that there would be a 1% chance of being chosen to go to Rwanda. Or 1 unlucky migrant from 6 dinghies, assuming 50 per vessel. Given the risks they have undertaken to get to France, and the costs payable to the traffickers, very few migrants are likely to be deterred by a 1% chance, now are they?

I've been to Rwanda and it's better place for the migrants than Albania. Italy built and is managing a huge migrant center in Albania where any migrant who is coming from a safe country gets processed and sent back. Italian streets are safer because there will be a lot less unidentified criminals running around waiting to be processed. Italy isn't paying anyone to go to Albania, they're not going on a holiday, they'll be confined within the walls of the centre. The Italian Prime Minister is the leader of the equivalent of the Reform party. In fact I was very surprised the labour government would be taking advice from this Italian government. Very different from the Rwanda plan.

Albania’s president Edi Rama was very clear about the deal with Italy being just for Italy so no the UK can’t get tag along. However it can try copying it in another willing country, the trick is to find one among those close to the UK.
