It theoretically wouldn't be a problem, but without the core culture , that always has to remain roughly 80 to 20 in relation to others, this is where things getting worse and you see it in those cities as they aren't integrating, so what is the point of talking about 'inclusion' then? inclusion into what?

I think it is up to English people to decide what English means. We have the same bs here in Russia now with the medieval thinking central asians coming to Russia but never getting assimilated culturally but rather keeping to their cultural habits (quite low and outrageous at times) and hating on the locals totally opposing them. They do not want to integrate and live like us, they want to take over and live instead of us in their own manner. I call it invasion and alien privatization. Glad to see that my Russian native Konstantin is a sane one in your country.

She brings it up because it justifies her claim that she has genetic ownership rights to london, in a way that europeans could claim genetic ownership rights to Cherokee nation territory simply for europeans having lived there as 1/100th of that population for 400 years. Its completely racist and its basically european manifest destiny being played out by africans and hispanics and arabs.

Why is it that the ‘British’ black woman always mentions the slave trade? I’ve never heard a true British subject ever mention it in idle conversation. The question was is London less English? I don’t recall if the slave trade that ended over 200 years ago is very relevant. It just highlights the obvious differences between the indigenous British and the migrants. Adil, you’re a disgrace. If you consider yourself British, stop attacking and start defending the country that took you and your descendants and fellow countrymen in.

Thats a good point, almost all black people in Britain today arent here because they were enslaved and brought here by force. Usually its because their parents or grandparents were very pro empire and wanted to move to the wealthy imperial heartland. Its like how most Indians in the UK are descended from Imperial soldiers who helped forge the empire: we shouldnt let them forget they were partners in all that

The Russian born chap makes the most even keeled, non-emotional, and sound point. If “English” means “originates from England,” then an increases ratio of foreign born persons will, by definition, make England less English. That can positively or negatively influence culture. When I was a child, English fare still suffered indirectly from the effects of rationing. Everyone universally agreed that English foot was pretty awful. London now has the most diverse food in the entire world and one can find excellent food on every corner. It’s less English, but it’s much better. But there’s another side to that coin. Not every culture values women as equals. The Middle East comes to mind, as many Middle Eastern cultures treat women as chattel. When persons identifying with those values emigrate to the UK, that will have a negative effect on the net appreciation of gender equality unless those persons reject the values of their native countries. If these points can be contended, I’d love to hear it.

The lady sitting next to Konstantin claims to be English because she was born here and says that mass immigration has not diluted the 'Englishness' of the city. If that is true, how come she speaks with an African accent? She has learned to speak the way she does, from her environment ...which apparently isn't less English than it used to be. Nobody denies that the Spanish culture of the Costa Del Sol has been eradicated by immigration and tourism. How is what has happened to London any different?

@@Martyntd5 She's not claiming to be English at 1:07, she's asking how are we not "English" in thinking that being British and English are always synonymous when they're not, see 0:28 and 0:39. The Scottish people, for example, they are also "British" by nationality (British Citizens), but they're also not "English". Her being born in England or Scotland doesn't make her English or Scottish; what would make her either English or Scottish is if she had English or Scottish ancestry as these are both ethnic groups and nations (a large body of people united by common descent, history and culture). This is the mistake that they're all making here, including Konstantin Kisin in referencing black football players as being English with no one questioning their Englishness. Their ethnic group is the ethnic group of their parents, by descent. If these black football players are at least of partial English descent, they're English, but if they're not at least of partial English descent, they're not English. In the case of her, she's Nigerian by descent, not English.

So we have to 2 African/Caribbean 3 Asian/Arab and a Russian talking about if “has London lost it’s Englishness” in a London based studio 🤔 interesting.. surely it’s not racist to see London has changed drastically in the last 60 years and a lot of white English people have moved away to places like Essex and Kent due to the rising house prices and rising crime rates. Also I would hate to tell the lady she certainly isn’t as English as John Cleese that ridiculous.

Everyone else's, walk of life, history is been hugely recognised. London used to be a city to go for long walks. I truly loved exploring the streets, architecture and medieval flavor, even the Roman wall, or the statues in the parks. The people were in fact polite and so so friendly. The Pubs were welcoming and friendly as well. As a young man I liked the 1970s discos. It was fascinating (for someone from NYC). Now when I go there I stay in my hotel for the most part and the farthest I'll walk is to acquire food at close-by restaurants. The place is scary, especially at night. If my business didn't demand it I would not go at all.

So, Great Britain went around colonizing the world for 300+ years. Then acting surprised that some of those countries people turned up at their doorstep😂 The panel, however, is a joke. An Englishman or Englishwoman was traditionally a white person. Now people of other colors are born in that country. But they hold on to their original cultures. Rishi Sunak celebrates Diwali at 10, Downing though he was born and raised in the UK. How is that English culture? Why can't white people want to hold on to their own culture and traditions? Racism doesn't just go one way. Also every country is racist. Skin colour is compared even within same ethnicities 😂 In India, North Indians call South Indians black! Indians and Africans call each other blacks. A Japanese person doesn't think they are same as Chinese. God forbid either of these two were mistaken for Thai, Malaysian, Vietnamese or Filipino. Even the Arabs have divisions. A Colombian doesn't like being called a Guatemalan. People need to grow up. Cultural divisions exist because cultures hold on to individual identities. If white people want to hold on to theirs, why not?

It's a strange comparison you make. Britain was colonised by the Romans for 500 years and yet British don't think to go and settle there. Additionally, when the Romans left, there was almost no genetic legacy remaining here. When mass immigration started 50 years ago I was a child. We expected that we would live in truly integrated communities and we were told that our acceptance (as the host community) was the key to this. Actually what has happened, is that many immigrant races and religions live completely parallel lives and will go out of their way to find a partner who matches their racial identity at the expense of integration with the host community. This is a tragedy for the UK in my view and utterly destructive to its own unique culture. Ironically it seems to have strong parallels with the behaviour of European colonialists, who lived separately in other parts of the world, but were ultimately driven out of their colonies and back to Europe.

Your comments about the universality of Racism as a phenomena are very welcome. The current DEI principles and the book 'White Fragility' is currently being used as a tool by non-whites to justify some very racist behaviour on the basis that 'Blacks cant be racist to Whites, as the Whites hold the power'. It's non-sensical, reductive nonsense. However, I disagree with you that we need to 'hold on to a white culture'. There is no Black, White or Brown culture. We can be a society where skin tone and hair texture is as irrelevant as eye colour and all share a British culture together. This is what I would hope for.
