Sue Gray Quits As Kier Starmer’s Chief of Staff

Sue Gray has quit as the Downing Street chief of staff, citing fears she was “becoming a distraction” to Sir Keir Starmer’s government. In a statement, Ms Gray said she was “pleased to have accepted a new role as the Prime Minister’s envoy for the regions and nations”, and Sir Keir thanked her for her support. Andrew Pierce and Kevin Maguire react to the news.

It just gets murkier every day. Sue Gray was a civil servant who ran the investigation of Johnson's Partygate, at the same time she was supporting the Labour Party in opposition, this suggests a total lack of impartiality. She wrote. “It has been an honour to take on the role of Chief of Staff, and to play my part in the delivery of a Labour government." & Starmer thanked her for her help in opposition. She demanded a higher salary than Starmer to be his Chief Adviser while saying other advisers should take pay cuts. She has battled with Irish born adviser McSweeney who formed a think tank with MP Reed to oust Corbyn & keep MPs opposed to him to stay until they replaced him & is now taking her position. Gray has been given a position of Envoy, but it is unclear whether the salary of both has changed. A Machiavellian fight for power to influence an incompetent leader with absolutely no political instinct. The sooner Labour crashes the better, but I hope the country is not too injured as it goes into full self destruction. NB McSweeney came to Britain aged 17 to work as a labourer before taking a degree in politics & worming his way into the Labour Party with the help of the sly Peter Mandelson. Anonymous sources are generally advisers involved in damaging the opposition or trying to cover blunders, yet Starmer a former Barrister is unable to justify his actions & asks people to wait for the revelation of new broken promises. Labour has burnt it's working class affiliations & aligned itself with bourgeois champagne socialists - in short hypocrites. It would be cheaper to replace Charles with a mascot & ensure no further scandal, he should have used his influence on behalf of pensioners. He often speaks out on other pet political topics.

The value of the fuel allowance has gone down since it came out in 1997. In real terms how much is it really worth in 2024? It’s worth it to the pensioners who desperately need it & it’s the shame of this country that they rely on it. High costs & low pensions, living on a fixed sum will hurt pensioners & in some instances will lead to their death. Remember excess deaths are those over & above the normal expected death rate. Last year 4950 excess winter deaths attributed to the cold.
