Blood Scandal: 'We're the Last in the World to Sort This Problem Out'

It's been described as the worst treatment disaster in NHS history. And today, the Prime Minister will apologize to the tens of thousands of people given infected blood between the 1970s and 1991 and the families whose lives have been utterly devastated.
Sharron Davies' mother developed liver cancer in her 40s after being given contaminated blood during an operation to treat gallstones. Then she contracted Hepatitis C. Lauren Palmer was orphaned when her parents died from HIV eight days apart after her father was infected by contaminated blood. Jason Evans, says that he can't remember a time before the blood scandal, his first memories of his dad, Jonathan, were of him dying from AIDS in 1993.

Exactly the same is happening now with covid vaccines and childhood vaccines. Why isn't RS saying sorry for these. Will even this timid comment be censored? I should be saying far far worse. We are living under a system of government that just cannot be trusted with our safety and must be changed. This government and civil service is infested with extreme corruption and a truth and reconciliation approach to government reform is required.

I read the side effects and refused their treatment. Worked through until I couldn't, around mid 50's (with 40 years infection under my belt) and then was told, "Take the meds and go back to work". Even the people at the DWP had more concern for me than the doctor I saw. Got treatment in 2017 and whilst it was a blessing, the damage had been done and my last scan was like watching the sky on bonfire night. ⚡🔥🔥⚡⚡ All the best to you Derek.

I don’t think it’s as bad as it was nowadays, I just had to take a tablet for a few months. I didn’t have any symptoms so that might be one of the reasons why it was pretty straightforward for me.

@@DeeDeeLowryLegs An effective treatment was introduced in the UK in 2017 and it was almost an instant relief from the previous decades. Before then, the most common side effect of drug treatment was an attitude of 'road rage'. Road rage for 50 years, are you kidding me? Fortunately(?) I didn't get a diagnosis for 40 years so regarded my health as 'normal' and carried on regardless despite physical and mental discomfort.

@DeeDeeLowryLegs I too had the interferon and ribaviren. Decompensated my organs on first dose. I was now dying ...3 liver transplants within 15 years .. still lucky to be here. Infected with HCV from blood products in Australia for Haemophilia B In the mid 80s

With a scandal this huge, you never know those with a real heart who will challenge those they sit beside in parliament. It wasn't Rishi Sunak, it wasn't Ben Wallace. But there are still things going on NOW which needs fixing, before more years of work is needed to fix these deliberate actions.
