Kudos to the roadies for giving it a go in such horrendous conditions. The experienced MTBers always make it look easy but we know that's not the case. Showing such enjoyment and terror at the same time makes this such a fun video to watch. And I've never seen a telegraph pole ride a mountain bike before, but Conor shows it is possible.

I highly hope he'll get out on a MTB out sometimes and practice a bit as he now knows the basics.

I did try a bit of off roading on hard tail bikes some years back and this looks very familiar to me. In case you hadn't guessed I am normally watching GCN. Being used to road bike control and hazards, I found the technical terrifying. I didn't specifically go out riding with expereinced off roaders, but on the gravel or simple trails I could blitx most because of my stamina. As soon as it became technical, fallen branches, rocks I couldn't steer around etc. they were straight back past me. Unlike Connor and Mannon, I didn't end up enjoying it. For me it was too slow or too scary. In the same way for a full on off roader road riding could be too fast and dull. Irony, I find wathing this sort of thing great, I admire the talent and appreciate others enjoying things I simply don't.

Watching this video makes me think that GMBN should add a woman expert rider to the team. Here in Northern California I see a good participation of women and there's lots of support from other riders when new women come along. I suppose it's like that in many other places, but not in many other as well. Having female representation on GMBN would encourage women from all over the world to try out the sport - especially in places where this is seen as a "guy sport".
