If you are confident in the workshop, offer customisation like „I will cut the handlebars to length for you“ oder „I will fit a new set of tires of your choice for you“. A potential buyer may not be comfortable in doing this on his/her own and you could save them the labour cost in a bike shop and the waiting time. Win-win.

When it comes to price, on anything, I set a price I want, the lowest I'll go and then, I put the item up for sale at a higher price (the amount depends on the item). That way, if the guy negotiates a lower price, it almost always ends up being the price I wanted originally. Sometimes I make more. If someone offers lower than the lowest I'll go, I just don't accept.

Colour any marks in using a sharpie pen and be honest? Hmmmm, I can't see how that could possibly go wrong!! High resolution photos are important, I want to be able to see every little detail so that I know what to expect when I go to see the bike or when it gets delivered. People don't want to read copy and pasted sales blurb about all the components on the bike as when you're selling an expensive bike your buyer already knows what they're looking at. What people really want to know about a second hand bike (or second hand anything else for that matter) is what's wrong with it. What's not 100% perfect? What parts are going to need replacing next?
@ewanjoy53203 жыл бұрын
is putting sharpie on a scratched rockshox fork stantion not a good idea?
@frankthetankricard3 жыл бұрын
I personally wouldn't do it, it fixes nothing end it'll make you look dishonest. It also won't stay on very long. But since it won't hurt anything it's ok if you disclose it to the buyer but still I think it's entirely pointless. Nail polish might work better in the short term but there's no real solution to a scratched stanchion. If the scratch is causing mechanical problems / oil leakage you should mention that and adjust the price for it. You could still easily sell it to someone willing to do an upper replacement if your price is good.
@ewanjoy53203 жыл бұрын

Got to say, some of these practices are arguably questionable.... Honesty is the best policy. Cleaning is one thing, hiding damage is another. Look after the bike in the first place and it should hold a higher return value anyway. Mutton dressed as lamb? If you you have had your fair share of the fun from the bike, give someone else a fair bargain and get them riding. 2p

Depends what your budget is and what stuff you ride/want to ride. Low budget: get a hardtail. High budget: get whatever you like. Pros of full-sus: Very capable. Cons of full-sus: More expensive than hardtails, can be costly/difficult to maintain. Pros of hardtail: Cheaper, easy to maintain. Cons of hardtail: not as capable as a full-sus. If you pedal up hills, dont get a Down Hill (DH) bike. If you mainly ride large dirt jumps, get a Dirt Jump (DJ) bike. If you like distance, get a cross country (XC) bike. If you like having fun going down hill, sometimes have to pedal up, and are not concerned about fast times, get a trail or enduro bike.

This has to be a troll video, so much BS I can only say avoid a bike if see any such dirty tricks, the silicon spray is a telltale sign the seller (and the bike) is full of BS, if the bike is regularly washed with pressure washer you can say goodbye to all the bearings and suspension, bottom bracket etc... and can spend a whole lot of money on a professional strip down checkup. And the sharpie coverup... scratches and signs of use are expected on a MTB, it doesn't need anything more than a nice wash by hand, some shampoo and gentle soft running water from the garden hose. This shows the most that the owner cares.
@lennyknott27343 жыл бұрын
Yea but you will sell it for morw
@frankthetankricard3 жыл бұрын
I might be in the minority but when I buy a used bike I assume the bearings are all full of rusty dirt and the oil and seals are still from the factory. As an example I've bought used brakes that the previous owner sent in for service before postage for piece of mind. They arrived along with an invoice from a bike shop for the service and parts costs indicating the proper date as well. We opened them up and the oil was 60% mud. The seals in the lever were destroyed and leaking even though the invoice had them listed as parts replaced. They went out of their way to overtighten every single bolt they could find so I had to do some drilling and tapping in the end. At the price I paid it was still a decent buy but the poor kid who paid the bike shop for service was really taken for a ride. I've also never seen clean bearings in a used bike in my entire life but that might just bad luck. I'll say that if the listing mentions bearings, seals or fluids that alone is a positive thing because it shows the owner knows those things are something to look out for.
