You gave me a great idea. What do people do to sell their cars faster? Detail. I have a bunch of car detail stuff I can use to clean and shine up the bike then take great pictures.

Looking to sell an old Lemond and Jeffsy. Thanks for the great tips and story's. The accordion is especially awesome.

Thanks! I need to break that thing out more often. It's such a random thing for us to have in this house. You'll have to let me know how selling the Lemond goes. I bet a lot of people will be interested. And it's still a good time to be selling bikes. Bike supplies are low. Thank you for watching and taking the extra time to comment. I really appreciate it. 👍

Thanks! Yeah, I love the accordion. Such a funny trade. Thanks so much for watching the video with me. Glad the running is going well. One thing that I used to notice was how much easier running gets when the weather breaks in the fall. This heat is killer!

I find selling stuff so stressful in terms of timewasters etc so just end up with a garage full of junk :D. Great tips though!

So true! I was stalling for so long just because I didn't want to take the time to clean and take photos of the bikes. What are you going to do with your TT bike when you spring for the new one? Sell it? Maybe keep it on the trainer?

@maxk70234 жыл бұрын
@@mlegrand yes! I’m thinking of getting the Santa Cruz Blur, and since the components I’m putting on and the build I’m trying to get is around $7.5k, I want to make it less of a hit on my wallet, so I’m going to sell my other XC bike, the Santa Cruz highball which has a pretty nice build as well. I’m just trying to upgrade my xc whip so it can handle more. Cheers!

Thank you very good tips . My question is if they want to try out the bike, do you let them ride down the road and back, how do you know they won't run off with the bike?
@mlegrand Жыл бұрын
I'm typically overly trusting. To a fault probably. But you could always have them leave their photo id. I'd also suggest trusting your gut a little. If things feel a bit off, pack up and head out. Safety first. 👍 Good luck Grace!

Good video - I think the best advice is your attitude that you cannot go into the used market looking to make money. Take the approach that you are recovering some of the value from the item and giving it a second life. I've sold piles of stuff and pricing and value properly always makes for quick sales. Remember some of the financial difference you enjoyed from the item. Looking forward to the first in the accordion playing series next. Swim... Bike... Run... Accordion. You may be on to something here - patent before IM jumps on it.

What I am feeling right now based on my experience for selling my aluminum project bike is: 1. People don't tend to give a shit about any upgrades. 2. There are too many people having the “carbon bikes are the best” stereotype, they don’t care about mileage or make, etc. 3. They just want the cheapest stuff, and don’t really care about the quality of bike building, maintenance, detailing, etc. At the end of the day, there are two types of bikes that go fastest: 1. Bikes of the dentists - worth far more than the sellers are asking. 2. Some random old cheap stuff I don’t even know what they are. And the rest of them either not getting sold or when someone like me insisting my price get bullied.
@mlegrand3 жыл бұрын
Stick to your price if you know it’s the right value. People are weird about buying bikes. I’ve heard of people trying to offer crazy low prices on bikes. I have no idea why. They’re wasting their time.

How do you make sure you don’t get ripped off when people come to look and test ride. At least with a car you can ride with the potential buyer. But how do you keep someone from test riding and simply taking off with it? We have two we need to sell/trade am I’m terrified of them being stolen. 😢

I love using AirTags to track stuff. I put them on my bikes with something like this: amzn.to/3F5fg9I

@@mlegrandmy other worry is, what if guy gets into an accident , Bc if the bike malfunctioned and blames you for it (I.e law suit)??
@mlegrand2 жыл бұрын
@@JitinMisra - Valid fear and totally possible. I'm always trying to assess how much trust I should have in a person after meeting them. I guess you could have them sign a waiver. That might be valuable long after you've sold the bike. 🤷♂

I'm trying to sell a bike at the moment, some bloke bought it, unfortunately he is in the UAE and I'm in the UK, he expected me to either pay shipping or reduce the price of the bike.. After he had bought!!!!
@mlegrand4 жыл бұрын
Oh man, that’s going to be a decent amount of money for shipping. I really didn’t want to ship these bikes so I went the local route but certain bikes just need a larger audience to sell. Maybe there’s a way you can refund his money or split the shipping costs. 🤷🏻♂️

I have a beautiful 2007 Trek Madone 5.2 SL with less than 500 miles. Mint condition and over $3000 invested. Also come with the Garmin 1000. I tried selling it for $2500 which is really cheap. It is the 10 speed Ultegra and Dura-Ace components.Try going out and purchase a bike like that will cost $5000.00.
@mlegrand4 жыл бұрын
Yeah, the 10 speed might hold people back. I also wonder if these nicer bikes are a bit harder to sell. I know people are starving for bikes under 1500 at the moment. Thanks so much for watching this video. Hopefully there's something small in here (the photo trick?) that might help.

Ha! That was a fun one Matt. I def don't think the Corona Bike Shortage 2020 helped you out in any way ;) Im on the other end looking for Mountain bikes and there are NONE! On another note - Fun Fact I think Trek Domane is actually pronounced Dough-Mon -E as opposed to Dough Main. I only know this because I just bought one and the guys in the bike store corrected me LOL :D

Sorry Greenzoneglobe. I know a lot of youtube people that do more jump cuts and have less 'errr's. I'd like to avoid the jump cuts because those can be annoying also but I'll continue to work on cleaning up the talking parts. Thanks for your feedback.
