Personally I own Magura MT7 with HC3 Levers for around four years now, and oh boy. Hands down best brakes I ever used. Bought them for my Stumpjumper and after upgrading to 2021 Specialized Enduro my MT7 were first to swap to new bike. Magura all the way, never again a will move to different brand. Magura boy

Great video! I've become a great fan of Magura's brakes. The carbotecure has some unique advantages... one is that their most basic leaver for MT brakes is actually made of carbotecture and it stops you getting cold fingers in cold and wet weather. Aluminium ones suck the heat away from your fingers but carbotecture ones don't :D

ye, not sure temperature is really the advantage. Its probably how they make them so affordable considering they're built in Germany. SOme say they tend to break though. Carbon or not, the actual plastic is just as important in every carbon mixture

Almost embarrassed to say I’m still using my Magura Louise Freeride brakes I got in 2005 ? Moved them from F/ S to hardtail in 2007...? Banshee Scirocco was recently destroyed by head on with pickup truck. They haven’t been bled in 15 years ! I had the 1st and second gen rim brakes as well. The HS22’s were on first or second gen GT full suspension. Went with HS33’s on GT STS. Happy customer for over 25 years.

I love Magura brakes but would like to see some improvements, replaceable piston seals, seems like a huge waste to throw away an entire caliper because they won't sell you seals or have the ability to send it in for repairs. Also would prefer a metal insert in the carbotecture brake lever, that way I'm not crapping bricks everytime I am installing them on my bike.

@@iulian2548 The seals on my rear MT7 went and the pistons wouldn’t move freely. Figured I’d do some maintenance like I was able to on HOPE brakes. Was shocked that they don’t offer any parts for the caliper and just sell you an entire new caliper.

@@dytrdr5 actually rode both, MT7 with the original levers and MT7 with XT levers, switched back and forth, the levers of the XT just fit my fingers better, I now ride Shigura and its perfect for me. Top notch episode Andrew! I suppose this is something you had on your list for some time. It´s always great to see manufacturing processes. They let one appreciate and celebrate these things even more. It would have been a real pleasure though, if the people at Magura gave you some time with any of the engineers to talk history, design, evolution and future in break manufacturing at Magura. To occasionally see more of this in the future from other factories reaching from large a.f. to boutique as well would be sweet. Cheers guys

Great Video... I actually used Magura stuff on my bikes for a long time, starting with the first raceline rim brake back in the 90s. But then, some years ago, my Martha SL lost brake fluid at -12°C on both brakes while braking, at the same time on both brakes. This left me with zero breaking power immediately. I think some seals contracted due to the temp. I was lucky, that there was no car at the junktion I was heading to. Since then I stopped usining safety relevant parts from Magura, as I think they just don't understand, that peoples lives depend on the function of their components. This is very said, as I was actually raised in Bad Urach. Still love my Magura fork though!

I run Shimano Front and had tektro on the rear, that tektro failed while out on a offpiste bit of trail riding after the trail ran out. now I have XT front and rear. Interesting how automated such factories have become - makes me wonder if modern automobile and aircraft production facilities are similarly devoid of workers on the floor. It also illustrates why handmade bicycle makers generally have to charge considerably more for their products. The time investment, skills, and sourcing of raw materials needed to compete with such precision automated processes must be daunting. It gives me a lot of respect for the builders of top notch custom bicycles.

From the factory floor, manufacturing machine design and engineering, each business administration function, through to product R&D and testing. So please viewers (young and old) aim your careers working for companies that will support your hobbies as the best employees are those with a passion for the sport. The Magura Race Line was so good, they inspired much over confidence on short travel bikes back in the 90s. I have ask though:- Why they no longer sponsor Sam Pilgrim, he very good?

@@paddor i don't know about reliability, only used them for a year, but no problems so far. They are decently priced, and just work. Power is through the roof, and there is some modulation as well. I tried codes, but those have no power. Shimano is on or off. For the life of me I could not do hard braking without locking both wheels. There are other options, but the prices is ridiculous. That leaves Magura in my opinion.
