#askgmbntech I have two shock pumps, digital and analogue. When I connect either of them and pump up the shock, I then see the pressure steadily decreasing (quite quickly) before I’ve even unscrewed the pump. I’ve tried screwing them on more tightly but both seem to exhibit this behaviour. Am I doing something wrong or is this common?

Awesome to see that Nukeproof is still living on in some form. It gives me hope that one of the best and most underrated Hardcore Gravel/touring/do anything bikes around - The Nukeproof Digger - may see a resurrection. Come on OneOne you know it makes sense 🤘

I'd like to see biking to be more affordable to the masses, not exclusive. You should see the prices of bikes here in Malaysia and how exclusive this sports is getting day by day. Sad actually

Oddly, you briefly show a small jar of Dumonde Tech freeehub x grease; I bought it specifically to make a loud hub quieter, and it works... Silent at first then gradually gets loud again over a few hundred miles. Kind of like an incentive and audible reminder to clean and grease my hub every once in a while.

#askgmbntech curious thing about Shimano XT breaks - after full gravity bleed + few lever bleeds. Everything is working fine, better than new even. However, if I open the bleed port on either lever, there will be some fluid missing from it, (way more than screw displacement, about 3 screws worth I recon). I can top it off or not, breaks work fine, but when I top it off and let it sit for a night it will be missing the same amount again, but still breaks work fine. What is happening here? I can't locate any leak, and even if there were one breaks wouldn't work, and it would be unlikely to happen to both front and rear. So the question is: What's up? Is there some "overflow" mechanism in the caliper or lever that would drain the surplus of oil? If so, where? I put paper towel on every suspect area, nothing there.

My first SPD pedals after riding bikes for 45+ years. 30 years riding MTB with flats, hitting corners like an American flag track motorbike rider. No, not Speedway - (without drive, your crashing} - flat track, is right on the edge of crashing, wearing out the soles of your shoes quicker than your tyres. Great stuff.

Think the first question was trying to get across what I wondered about 15 years back, I wanted to know what sole brake item would benefit me most when I was first starting to work on my on bikes, a better caliper or better lever system?. I ended up goin with the lever because it was more aesthetically pleasing. I fitted the silver deore levers to the standard brake cables and left the calipers as standard an they worked brilliantly, obviously not as powerful as it would be if it was paired with its correct caliper but still a fast improvement on how the standard levers performed an looked

50 hours for a service 😂😂😂 so 25 trips to work and back then (i take in a few rough trails on the way to work as its by far the most direct and cuts out a lot of tarmac) i honestly think these manufacturers are smoking crack when they think that these service intervals are anything like realistic for a normal person. It would just be cheaper to buy new forks when they're knackered

Yeah the high volume pumps helps a lot, they just chuck in so much more air per pump - I use the Topeak JoeBlow Mountain X - that with right amount of rim tape - and lots of Tubeless tyres will easily just pop into place! Cheers Owen

I just got an Orbea Kemen. I hadn’t really considered why it looked so sleek. I just needed a commuter and dreamt of occasional weekend runs with the kids on a shotgun pro or mac ride. Turns out , because of the internal routing, i can't affix them. And the topbar mounted ones can't get over the fat topbar (that I've seen, so far). If anyone stumbles on this comment, i welcome suggestions in early 2025.

I had one of those shock stems in 1999, it was a Tranz-X brand. Thankfully i bought a 6061 Zoom adjustable stem in 2000👍👍. I replaced the Zoom stem and riser bars in 2001 to a 6061 TITEC Big Al 10° rise stem ($91.00) to go along with a pair of 6061 aluminum TITEC H*llbent risers ($55.00)👍👍

What brings me joy on my bike? SIMPLICITY! riding a hardtail with external cables, a lockout on the fork, a sorted saddle, 1x 12 gears, reliable brakes. Take the bike out of the shed and ride, no shaking linkages, no complicated set-up, no hours of extra maintenance...just ride. Pure joy!
