#zesty I hope they sorted out the issues with the horst link from the previous model! Headset routing is just another headache in addition to the pressfit BB...😢 This frame will still be shared with the enduro Spicy?

For some tires (such as Continental "X" King), when I put the rolling direction inverted (on the front tire), I notice more grip in curves, precisely because there are intermediate (and lateral) studs in the way the tire Scorpion "XC M" is manufactured - it's difficult to try to explain this..., but it's something like that, the side of the intermediate and lateral spikes, when you turn the handlebars, are more perpendicular to the movement (and not in the direction of movement of the recommended rotation), providing, in my perception, a feeling that these studs are more "ready" and enter the terrain more, giving a greater feeling of predictability and safety in the curves. Of course, I imagine there will be some loss of roll with this, but, up front, I prefer predictability in curves. In fact, this would be a better suggestion for a video theme to be more illustrative, perhaps drawing on opinions from riders not sponsored by tire companies, independent studies and even companies that manufacture tires with side stud patterns like the Pirelli Scorpion "XC M" .

Good effort at trying to dance on the head of a pin. Your main conclusion however is shot full of holes. If something is a very small part of a picture, but marketing companies and shouting about it a lot and manufacturers are charging a lot of extra cash to address it - then by definition, that is classic marketing BS. Its marketing BS people! As you and other commenters say, tyre deflection is by far the biggest contributor to deflection , along with suspension obviously. Pretty much all other perceived stiffness, flexibility, dampening etc feelinsg are down to the fact that the rider's brain is trying to make sense of the different SOUND of differing materials and components. EG Carbon wheels SOUND stiffer but that is 99% because of the sound, not actual stiffness!

Re DOT brakefluids: There are DOT 3, 4 and confusingly 5.1. These are all similar glycol based brake fluids (you shouldn´t mix but you can interchange them). The higher the number the higher the boiling point (roughly) There´s also a DOT 5 which is something entirely different and is silicone based. This one is NOT interchangeable with the other DOT types so beware what you buy. All the DOT bicycle brakes I am aware of use DOT 4 or 5.1

Every wheel i had that's been made with "complience tuning" has broken quickly, for example the spank 359 vibracore. I'd say avoid such wheels and avoid the modern thin rim, they always fail.

Three years ago I put Berd spoked wheels on my Scott Genius 29er. Initially I was not sold on the Scott 29. I had just come from a 27.5 Norco Sight. I was not impressed with the Scott until I put those Berd wheels on. Whole new bike. Wheel feel was totally different. Yes, wheel weight was reduced but the wheels rolled different. And yes, $2200 is just plain stupid for a set of mtn bike wheels but I had to give it a try. Berd claims a change in compliance. There is. A noticeable change. Hard to describe but the bike was just a better ride.

The damn suspension and tires are taking up the bumps and humps on a MTB. The rim is not supposed to do that. FFS people...🤣🤦‍♂. Did you all also fall for the single wall rim BS? You are still paying the same price as for a nice double wall rim but a single wall is way cheaper to make. So cheaper to make + same sale price = more profit ripping off customers.

Yes, it's all BS. Did everyone forget that 'compliance' is the new trendy word for 'flexy'? If you do know you also know that 'flexy' wasn't anything any manufacturer wanted their product to be referred to as.

I completely disagree with GMBN on this one. Judy air fork is a great starter fork, it is way better and lighter than stock coil forks. For anyone who's just starting or thinking of entering the sport try the judy airfork first, dropping 400+ and more for the latest rockshox or any fork is a nonsense for a beginner mountain biker/xc rider. Also the service components, it's available both in the contintenal US and European online markets. Just put your fork's SN into the trailhead website and you should be able to buy it.

Details details. The actual material and geometric science is in the details. Trouble is, once words are applied to an entire complex system (wheel, spokes, hub, tire), it's hard to use just one word.

Interesting video, great work with the graphics. For most riders, the biggest factor in how your bike feels comes down to whether you're riding the goddamn thing. Three days in a row of riding makes the day 1 bike feel very different from the day 3 one.

As far as I remember tyre compliance is an order of magnitude higher even in a road bike compared to all the components of a bicycle taken together. So if you can fell something - it's most likely tyres

You need to make a better distinction between 5.1 and 5. 5 is silicone based where 5.1 is glycol based the same as DOT 3 and 4

Because I have limited knowledge of bikes I can't do this project maybe you can Gears were meant to be put on a wheel for you to exercise your arms same as a leg arm Exerciser So when you move the wheel with your arms you start at a light weight and after a certain number of turns you increase the gears strength so your arms moves a heavier weight This is how people get muscles They lift small weights and then heavy weights The advantage of wheel with gears is you don't need the weights and can put on muscles anywhere Let me know if you understand Thanks for the video

NoTwo observations. When one sits at a table and crosses his fingers together, the 2nd thumb position is your dominant hand. Mister, your age and breathing sound like me before a cardiologist found and stented my blocked arteries. Until you do, eat a 81mg aspirin daily. I rode miles daily , wore 34" pants ate good and quit smoking 30 years ago. In fact everyone here, lie to your doctor and say you have heavy heart breathing while stairs . Then your insurance has to pay for tests.
