The year that bike came out, I was racing at the Exmoor enduro. I smashed a wheel early on in practice, and Mondraker offered me a demo of the Foxy while my wheel was being fixed. One of the quali stages was a trail I knew well, fast and rooty, and I rode it as fast as I ever have while on the Foxy, during practice. It felt ace. Come the actual timed run I had my Yeti back- shortish, with a 60mm stem. I tried to ride the stage at the same speed and had an enormous OTB crash.

Excelent video. I didn't know Mondraker until last year when I saw my current bike (A Hardtail - Chrono Carbon R). It was love at first sight. The progress in geometry is incredible. Now when I ride my previous bike it just seems like I'm riding a kids bike. Also I used to wear my rear tyre much faster than the front tyre. That difference is now much less noticiable.

Your triangle example is good in explaining how you feel more "in" the bike, rather than "on" the bike, when riding aggressive slack bikes. I had my last bike as a teen, when fork suspension just found its way onto the consumer market (for those who could afford it, or dared to risk the cheap Chinese knockoffs), and I was super scared of those super high saddle positions that all the grown ups would use, because to me it felt I was ready to just fly over the bars on every rock or root.

Can we see a video about the Iron Horse Sunday or 6Point4? The 6Point4 felt like it had very modern Enduro geometry, despite being a bike released in 2007/8. I sold mines last year but when it sat next to my dad’s new Remedy 8, it didn’t even look too out of place! The Sunday was an absolute powerhouse of a bike. Feel like they deserve their own videos or one video about Iron Horse altogether.

I think you should give some credit, unless you had and I missed it, to Gary Fisher coming up with the genesis geometry of lengthening the top tube and shortening the stem. Maybe he didn't slacken the head angle as much, but he probably began the trend I formerly mentioned.
@TryboBike4 жыл бұрын
ETT on modern XL frames tends to hover around 660-670mm. ETT of those old school mondrakers was a massive 710. No, we haven't went there and its sad. Even mondraker went back from that concept after two or so years.

Great vid, cheers. BTW my Kona AA (Kula) from 98 is pretty low, long and slackish for that era. Stable at speed but front end lifts a bit on steep climbs. Would love to see vid on late 90s Kona hardtails, great geometry for the time and mine's still going strong.

A year later, a timely reminder that a Long, Low And Slack Mountain Bike is still no excuse for the ever increasing stupidly too long Reach measurements that Mondraker et al are pushing on the market. You can still enjoy the benefits of a Long, Low And Slack Mountain Bike while at the same time riding one that actually FITS you well.

I own a Mondraker Foxy and love it. However.... Mondraker didn't pioneer forward geometry, zero rise stems, asymmetric chainstays or slack headtubes. Pace cycles pioneered all of that back in the 90s Search the internet for Pace bike called a Pace DPD (Dave's Purple Descender) Pace cycles used to have a write up about the history of forward geometry and the DPD bike on their website. That's bike was the revolutionary game changer that the industry wasn't yet ready for. What mondraker did was make it mainstream. The the point that other manufacturers had to take notice. The Mondraker Foxy XR carbon is my all time favourite bike 👌

Love the bike design kzbin.infoUgkxHL1v1R3NE5x4KiYfyt8dnQmyNYz7qi5L and functionality. It is hard to align the front tired to center the disk brakes. The brake wheel touches the stationery side of the brake caliper and pad. I aired the tire up to 40 psi as the markings say 40-60psi. Left the house for a few hours and came back to an exploded innertube.All in all it seems to be a good bike. Have not ridden it yet though so that's the max of my knowledge. Update, put a new innertube made sure the tire was set properly and it did the same thing in under 20 minutes as second pic shows.
