I drove a 1985 GMC Topkick with a 3208 Cat engine and 5 speed transmission with a 2 speed rear end hauling fuel with a single axle. I could haul 3300 gallons of fuel. The tank was made out of steel with 6 compartments . The Cat engine only put out 210 hp. I got over-weight tickets a lot when I loaded the bobtail truck. I loved this truck so much.

You know what I really miss is the sound of the old GMC medium to heavy duty gas V-6 engines. They had a real guty sound,a mellow growl if you will. Another great video,Thanks again Dane, always enjoyable. Hard to believe that cab design fist came out in 66,stayed contemporary till the end.

I miss the sound of the 2 cycle Detroits. When I was in my late teens I worked a Desert IHC in Tucson and I was a parts runner and I used to drive the new Internationals to the body installers for whatever the customer wanted on their new trucks and I loved driving al the model from pick ups to fleetstars with the separate coil spring cab suspension from the frame great memories great sounding engines, and transmissions and the smell and no rattles and tight steering and no turn or ripped seats. They were only new once.

Those Brigadiers are mean looking and even meaner with a screaming Detroit in it. I drove a '78 Brigadier for a scale company in the '80s. It was a flatbed tandem equipped with a crane, 8V71 with an Eaton Fuller 13-speed. If you drove that truck, the guys at the shop knew you were coming 5 minutes before you got there. Great video. You don't see many of these old Jimmies around anymore.

When i was in the air force i drove a 1965 gmc cabover with a 5 speed transmission and 2 speed rear ends. The rear axle was driven with belt driven. The belt was in between the rear duals. Thi truck was powered by a hopped up supercharged and turbo charged 671 Detroit. It was bored and the fuel turned up. The steering was air assisted . My boss said you slam the door on your hand and get really really mad then you could drive the truck. If you're foot is not touching the the road then you are not driving his truck correctly. I always had that truck up against the governor. Denis from Santa Rosa CA

Craig------------Making sure the 6-71 has oil and will start..............when you showed up in the rain . Short drive-by and you didn't get to ride .......inside that noisemaker ! Inside color looks like it may have been a Yellow Freight tractor, but freight truck wouldn't have an 8LL {deep reduction} transmission . Gotta find more GMC's, while there's still a few around . Vocational trucks, like this, are interesting ! Contractor's favorite, because same engines used in loaders, backhoe's and scrapers.

O-H-I-O Porter greetings 🇺🇸 Hey, did you ever hear the song “Shotgun Angel”? I just recently heard it for the 1st time! Cool song. Good stuff…love the sound of the GMC & the action. How did you hear about the Crackerbox out in NH? We are looking forward to the Jamboree. Shocked to hear that you’re selling one of your trucks, but can understand that you want the 379 Pete. Is that the one over in Cleveland? Another nice truck to add to your collection. Now, if you start going the conventional route, you may need to build onto your garage. LOL! A good problem to have. I’m planning on pouring a big concrete slab to park my trucks, hopefully. Blessings!🥰🤩😔
