By far this vid shows the easiest way to replace both front/back struts with minimum amount of tools needed to accomplish the task. Thanks for sharing.

I really hope mine goes this easy, lots of salt and rust in MN. Thanks for the vid, the 1A Auto one looked like a nightmare. The guy took out the whole axle?? What a load of extra work.

I greatly appreciate this video. It seems to be the most easy going method for replacing the struts without disconnecting the rotor and upper control arm. I'll be doing mine once my parts come in. I went with a Monroe OESpectrum (formerly Sensa-Trac) series strut assembly and rear shocks so I don't have to compress the springs and reassemble the struts. Also it was less expensive than a set of Bilstein shocks & strut mounts. Safer, easier and cheaper. Thank you very much, hyr0llr for your how-to video. I'll report back after my repairs. 2004 Trailblazer that needs some TLC. Still has factory shocks in it after 130K miles!

Kevin Mitchell your very welcome and goodluck. it will be much safer without having to compress the spring. lol

It took me 3 hours to replace the front struts and rear shocks. The front shocks were rusted onto the bracket pretty bad. Once I got my technique down the other side was a breeze. The test drive was beyond rewarding. No more clunking and squeaks! Thank you again for the video!

I just bought pre-assembled spring and shocks for the front struts and replaced the whole unit, no need for compressing the springs and much faster, easier and safer!

Thnx 4 video!!! Looking at prices further, go with quick struts, already bought separate pieces and have to transfer spring, found quick struts (pair)for 95 bucks free shipping. Yeah, wont be taking axle out and everything else as A1 guy!!!✌
@hyr0llr4 жыл бұрын
yeah quick struts are alot easier. Removes half the time lol. good luck.

Yeah, 20 plus years ago I was a master tech at top GM dealer, alot of people don't remember "flat rate" sink or swim son, some days don't flag even an hour and some days 25-30 hours flagged in 9-10 hours. Been awhile 4 me, have 2 remind myself, work smarter not harder, I knew better, get Quick Struts!!!✌

@@meangene6766the bilstein 4600's are & always have been solid upgrades. I'd rather put in the extra work for something that's gonna last, instead of taking chances with cheap shit just because it was "easier" to install lol🤦♂️🤣.

I just upgraded my rear suspension from air to coil. Seeing your video, it seems I made a mistake with the coil bring upside down. Dang!

also, lift both front wheels off the ground and there will be no load on the struts, they slip on and off easily

Do you happen to know the torque specs for any of these bolts?
@hyr0llr6 жыл бұрын
6ix set negative. im sure there is a site online that may have them. just type your specific vehicle and you can probably find it.
@6ixset1066 жыл бұрын
hyr0llr yeah i keep looking and keep getting different information.. some say about 50lbs for the lower pinch nut then some say 90lbs.. i have an 06 trailblazer so im sure its the same as the envoys. One more question, is it always that easy to take off that bracket? Ive read that some ppl take hours to do it but you literally did it in 5 seconds. Is it just easy to do with power tools, because i only have hand tools.
@hyr0llr6 жыл бұрын
6ix set i would just tighten them down with a normal sized 3/8 as much as you can. and like you saw, after removing that big nut, i would get a small sledge hammer to hit the bracket to loosen any corrosion holding it together. and than a prybar to get it the rest of the way. But make sure the top 2 nuts are off so the strut assembly will rotate when you pry the bottom bracket.

hyr0llr ok thanks man appreciate the replies.

Really it that easy? Is that only for early models or every year? I have an 04 and all the videos I seen so far want you to take a ton of stuff apart.

The Upscale i would assume its the same for the 04. Cant see it being different if its the same generation truck.
