Glad to see you did it the easy way! I've seen shop videos doing the same work and they took the brakes apart, discs off, all cables loose, took apart the upper ball joint... EEECH! way to much work when all you need to do is 3 nuts! If you loosen the clamp bolt on the bottom to the strut, you can turn it a little and get the strut out without removing the anti sway bar link! I just changed the whole strut and didn't have to take the spring off. Great work!

Thanks, Bob! We have seen about 3 different methods for this repair, but this is the correct method and the least time consuming. Yes, the sway bar does not have to be removed if you can successfully wiggle out the strut, but we thought we would include it as an option. Thanks for the comment!

If you're afraid of taking apart a ball joint, you might not ought to be doing this kind of thing 🤣 it takes 2 whacks with a 2lb sledge, if that. It's like a 30 second process. 🤦 It's way easier just to whack the ball joint, separate it, and have that extra room.

We did! We got about 65 K out of the Goodyear Wrangler Adventure/Silent Armors. Now running BFGoodrich All Terrains and they are a vast improvement.

What a great team - thank you! I have a 2007 Saab 97x and the shocks were replaced by a Chevy dealer at around 205k miles. At 288k I’m getting some weird popping noises at low speeds going up a badly cracked concrete driveway as the body shifts and going into the garage once the rear wheels pass the concrete lip so I’m thinking one of the many parts within the assembly has failed since everything else in the front suspension has been replaced. This is an awesome video which I will share with the Lincoln dealer who will be troubleshooting the noise. I got all the parts other than the springs. Thank you again!!
@MoronReviews3 жыл бұрын
Thank you! A popping noise from the front end is either a bad shock, bad ball joint or broken sway bar end link.

@@MoronReviews Thank you! I’m going with the bad shocks as the sway bar end links and upper and lower control arm assemblies are relatively new. Will update you next week.

@@MoronReviews Well the Lincoln technician diagnosed the noise as a cracked tranny mount 🥳🥳. So I asked to put in all the strut assembly parts I bought anyway. They had to order the mount but are confident that was the source of the ping pong 🏓 ball sound.

Nice job! I think you should have sanded those parts and painted them to deter the rust. Then again I like to keep my 2006 Trailblazer looking as mint as possible. I sand and repair as much as I can when doing any job. I get asked frequently how I keep it all looking so good when I take it to the shop for new tires, body work etc. 2 different wire wheel brushes on my drill and black spray paint.

Do they make a ( lift block? ) not sure what to call it? that you can mount to the strut towers to lift front end of truck to level it out? they always seen to look like they have a little nose dive to them. I have a 08 and 04 T.B. loved the 08 so much I bought another one . gas oil and tires is all ive had to do to either one of these trucks. 249000 miles on the 08 and 154000 on the 04. Great video. Take care

No that we've seen. We used a cylinder block, which we also use when doing brakes.

@@MoronReviews What im trying to describe. and not doing very well. lol. is a permanent like cnc milled round block to install on top of strut towers to give the front of the truck a LIFT but not the rear. to level the truck out. am i making any more sense? lol. sorry. ive seen them on other vehicle lift kits but dont know about the trailvoy? would probaly be 1 to 2 inches thick?

Hey, where can i buy a new pinch bolt online?
@wild8757 Жыл бұрын
You said you’re using a 13 mm wrench, you’re not using a 13 mm wrench, you’re using a 15 mm wrench when you’re holding the Allen wrench extension with a ratchet and turning the nut, also never seen any torque wrenches
@wild8757 Жыл бұрын
First you said the nuts on the top of the strut studs should be torqued to 33 foot pounds according to Haynes, then across the screen it says 23 foot pounds SMH
@J.C...5 ай бұрын
No way. Take the bracket off with the strut. It's MUCH easier. Them remove the bracket from the strut off the vehicle. Edit: why even take the bolt out before it's off? 🤷 And I'm glad I live in Louisiana. My 210k mile shocks look nothing like that. You can still read the labels lol

The 5100s will ride much stiffer/harsher than these. Double check that they fit before buying. Only see them for lifted Trailvoys. www.bilsteinlifts.com/shop/chevy-gmc/envoy/bilstein-5100-0-2-25-front-0-1-rear-lift-shocks-for-2002-2009-gmc-envoy/
