Hey man I did a SAS on my 08 gmc duramax dually and love it everything from wfo except my front axle that came from a wrecked 2019 super duty which is a Dana super 60 that has 1550 steering u-joints and a 10" ring gear 35 inner and outer axle shafts 3.5" axle tubes with 1/2" wall👍🏿🤙🏿this is how all of gm HD trucks should have not IFS junk

I know this is an older video but it definitely helped me decide my route for my truck. I have a 2007 Classic 2500HD with a 6" lift and I hate how the IFS causes the wheels to be pushed out further. I am running 35x12.5 on my truck and I got like probably 2" out poke on either side and it drives me nuts. I want to stick with 35s but want to find a better way. If this truck was in fact running 35x12.5 tires its nice how they are tucked in and not pushed out so far. I can do all the work myself and my truck is already being converted to a 241C so a lot of stuff is easy. Just the axle and few other parts that will be the bank breaker.

My only real complaint about the leaf spring SAS trucks is how tall they sit. But they are more budget friendly than the radius arm setups unless you pay out the hind end for a 78/79 Ford Dana 60.

Hello over there from deep down south Texas. I have a 2004 Yukon XL 2500 with the 8.1ltr gas engine. I'm not going to build the Yukon 2500 to wheel but rather it's my tow rig for my Dodge wheeling rig. I'm only wanting to keep the tire size of the Yukon at about 32"-33"(285)size. Just a tire size a little more then the stock 235/75-16's on a wider 9" rim for stability. It's about $3200 for a 4inch Cognito suspension kit for the Yukon 2500. Plus about $800 to replace my CV shaft's and wheel bearing's. Iv'e been tossing up the idea about just doing it right and swapping in a Ford SuperDuty axle 3inch lift kit from WFO with there SAS kit which for the truck's are on sale for $2800.. Problem is they only list these kit's for the 2500 HD truck's though. So I emailed WFO and this is there response.... "We have never test fit this in house but I have had customer purchase the kit for there applications with little to no feedback. One guy for sure has one out in TX some where Iv'e seen pictures of. Yes everything "SHOULD" work but its not something I can tell you if there is a small difference or not". I haven't found any application's online with some for sure video's on solid axle swapping a Yukon XL. So what do you think. Are the IFS lift's dependable enough for a small lift and will keep my tires from wearing funny?? Currently running a 2" key lift. Outside edges of the tires are wearing first.
@1999samtheman
@1999samtheman 2 жыл бұрын
Whats up man, so the first question here is if an SAS is worth it for a 33” tire and no heavy wheeling. I guess it depends. To me, yes. I would rather have the solid axle under the truck that has less wear points than the factory IFS setup. Money wise, if you manage to be around the same price with parts, the sas will still be more labor. Now if it will work, the answer is yes. 2500/3500 suburbans from 2000 and up all have the same frames. And from the rear doors forward they are the same frames as 01-10 gm 2500hd/3500 trucks, so all these lift kits and things out there for 01-10 hd trucks will fit 2500 suburbans newer than 2000. I think im actually going to do a video about this

Yes! Dude. Of course right after I uploaded the video i found the picture in my camera roll of the exhaust mod i had to do. I forgot to put it in. If you add me on ig ill dm it to you. It was very simple. Basically just had to take about 3/4 of an inch out of the downward section of the pipe right after the turbo downpipe. U can access the clamp through the passenger wheel well.

Nice conversion. I have a 2007 Classic 4x2 that I continue talking about doing exactly this to. Any idea on the approximate cost for this conversion? Or... better yet... a willingness to do this same conversion on my truck? Thanks for the explanation. This will be a go-to when I am ready to take the plunge. I just seem to have dozens of other things more pressing. What about axle hop, any issues? I have it bad on mine, with a PPE tuner set on 90+ hp.

Hey yea i am definitely open to taking on the job. How clean is the truck and where are you located? Some pretty big shops including ones that have parts on this truck dont want to take on 4x4 conversions because of the electronics. But I actually prefer it. Easier to fool the truck and have less issues down the road in my opinion. After having done this swap and with how difficult it is to get kingpin 60s sometimes, id go with WFO 3” or 6” coilover kit using a ford 05+ superduty 60. Figure around 7k in parts. We would have to get on the phone and talk over some exact stuff.

Why are the leafs flat? Aren’t they supposed to be more like a blown out U?
@1999samtheman
@1999samtheman 2 жыл бұрын
Flat or just barley inverted leafs are better for ride quality. If a leaf spring is a u shape it’s usually because its a lift spring or made to have more of a load on it frequently. If you look at factory square body trucks you can see up front they are “flat” from the factory.
