This is the intro to our gmc sierra 4x4 restoration project. It'a 1984 GMC High SIerra 4x4 shortbed. This truck needs it all, but at least it appears to be a solid foundation!

That is a really clean truck with original paint even! Sure the engine is done but that’s not a problem. Plenty of good replacement choices. I like your introduction. Much better than mine. I didn’t see the video of the steering column tighten up? I’ve done a couple and find it’s caused by people thinking that the steering wheel is a grab bar. Great video! PS: make sure you wear gloves! lol

I'm building a 350 to replace the 305...shooting for producing 400 lbs of torque on it. I didn't do a video on tightening the column because I ran across so many well-produced ones already. Ashley says I should be crating a video on everything I do...interested in your thoughts on that!

@@pinkcaddygarage267 I think Ashley thinks her dad is the smartest person in the world! I would watch them! I understand about the not making it now. There are a lot of good videos on here.

Where do you start on restoring a truck? I've been wanting restore my dad's truck but don't know anything.

I usually start with the mechanicals, and the bare minimum to get it where it starts drive stops and turns. On this 1984 GMC, Turman that the motor was not savable, so I have been working for the last two months on getting a fresh motor put together and in the meantime getting the front brakes rebuilt and replacing worn parts in the steering. Cosmetic stuff can wait until the truck is at least mechanically solid.
