I got a question for ya, my 2013 is having power surge issues after putting in a 320amp alt, im getting the service power steering code. Have you done anything with this or had issues?

I have a 2017 GMC Terrain without the Pioneer sound system. I have an issue trying to find a solution to running the outputs of my aftermarket amps back to the factory harness of my door speakers. Here is where the frustration comes into play. The rear speakers are powered by the head unit and the front speakers are powered by the amplifier. Why in the f!@# would they split the signal like that. And to add insult to injury when you search for things for this 2017 model everything stops at 16 and jumps to 18. Everywhere I search it says nothing has been researched for the 2017 model. That sucks I have experience with car stereo but these new cars are frustrating as hell when it comes to installation. Yes I could snip wires but I don't want to void the warranty on my truck plus I want the cleanest install I can get without butchering the factory harness. Everyone else is riding around thumping while I have to suffer with a stock sound system. I love my truck but this really makes me want to get rid of it and I don't like the 2018 body styles.

So Rick,I want to do a small build in a 2011 Terrain and I'm pretty sure I have the wiring schematics for speakers and low level inputs.My question to you is how to tap into the stock harnesses while making it possible to go back to stock when you pull the equipment.In other words,not totally destroying the stock harnesses so they can be used later.Thanks for any info!

John Adams clip them were the come in from the door. If they stay connected the pre amp will give you problems then run new wires and when you need to put them back leave some of the new wire to solder back together.

RickTEG I'm not planning on leaving the stock amplifier connected at all.Was planning on pulling all 3 plugs and tapping in right there.Doesn't 1 of the plugs go out to all speakers,another is the preamps from HU and last Power,ground,remote,etc?Am I off here?

I really like the build. I'm thinking about getting a Terrain and installing a killer sound system & sub. I'd like to drop it about 1.5 - 2 inches. Has anyone come up with a lowering kit for it yet?

RickTEG The issue seems to be the reactive driver assist controlled by the computer. Drop spindles might be the only way to keep all that stuff intact.

RickTEG I was reading about the driver assist and it seems to only involve the braking system. Sounds like it might be doable with springs depending on suspension component clearances.

It also seems the 4cyl turbo models have an active noise cancelling system tied into the stereo. A subwoofer and amp are included on base sound system models, but it isn't tied to the stereo output. There are microphones in the headliner and the subwoofer produces a tone to negate any road noise. This could really play havoc with an aftermarket stereo and subwoofer as it might try to cancel the output of a real subwoofer. Perhaps sound deadening and disconnect the noise cancelling would fix that issue.

Josh Devore don’t believe they have any for this model as last time I checked none of the big boys made a bigger alt either

You can fit a gm big case alt in the stock bracket with minimal modifications to the bracket

I run a mechman elite 370amp big case gm in my stock location

The pigtail on the back is different so dig up a wiring diagram off google and repin the plug to adapt the new bigger alt

Can you tell me how you ran the main power wire in through the firewall?

I actually ran 3 wires under my car and came back up under the rear seat grommet

I had terrain and I want to keep my stock radio what is a good way to run rca off the stock radio

Loc, i have an equinox and run factory head unit to an audio control lc2i, that feeds a soundigital 1200.4 and an 8000.1d i ran the signal off the front channel as my model has the 2.4l so the factory sub has nothing to do with the factory radio. Its for active noise cancellation.

Josh Jones just as common as any other car of new grounds and power from alt it’s just upgrading to a bigger guage wire. Just depends on your system
